ORCA HOMES

অতি দুঃখের সাথে জানাচ্ছি যে, নিজস্ব একটি জমি/ঠিকানার অভাবে, আজ থেকে প্রায় দুই যুগ আগে প্রতিষ্ঠিত আমাদের অনেকের অতি প্রিয় অরকা হোমস, চট্টগ্রাম (ডেল পাড়া, উত্তর পতেঙ্গা) এর কার্যক্রম বন্ধ হতে যাচ্ছে। এতদিন ভাড়া করা বাসস্হানে হোমসের কার্যক্রম চলছিলো। আসলে নিজস্ব জমি ছাড়া এ ধরনের একটি দাতব্য প্রতিষ্ঠানের টিকে থাকা কঠিন।
হোমসের ২০ জন ছাত্রকে আপাতত অরকা হোমস, গাইবান্ধায় স্হানান্তর করা হবে। ভবিষ্যতে সুবিধাজনক জমি/আবাসনের ব্যবস্থা করা গেলে হয়তো আবার অরকা হোমস, চট্টগ্রাম এর কার্যক্রম শুরু করা সম্ভব হবে। যদিও কাজটি বেশ চ্যালেন্জিং, এই কাজে প্রচুর অর্থ ও কিছু নিঃস্বার্থ ও পরোপকারী মানুষ প্রয়োজন। তবুও আশা রাখি মহান আল্লাহ তায়ালার আশীর্বাদে অচিরেই অরকা হোমস, চট্টগ্রাম আবার পূণর্জন্ম লাভ করবে।

Dear Members,

ORCA Homes is one of our flagship projects started by Chittagong Chapter in 2000, in a rented house with 7 children. In 2012 the Homes was shifted to a larger facility (30 children) that was built on land leased from the Navy.
Unfortunately, the Navy has their own plans and needs that land immediately. They have given us notice to vacate the premise ASAP. Even though something like this was expected and the OHC and Chittagong Chapter has been working to find a permanent Home for some time, the extremely short left us with few options.
The ORCA Homes Committee (OHC) held an emergency meeting on Saturday 17. After evaluating few options and considering the COVID situation and the urgency (short notice) the OHC prepared the following course of actions.
- Currently there are 20 children and 3 employees (Caretaker, Teacher/Asst. Caretaker, and Cook). All the children and the Caretaker will be temporarily transferred to ORCA Homes Gaibandha.
- Computers and furniture (bed, desk, chairs, Almira, etc.) will also be relocated to Gaibandha
- Try to get salvage value for the remaining assets (building, fixture, etc.)
- Chittagong Chapter in collaboration with the OHC will prepare a permanent solution for ORCA Homes Chittagong. A viable plan to be presented to the EC for approval within 3 months and to be implemented no later than end of year 2022.

With your support and cooperation we will get through this transition and continue to serve the best interest of the distressed and underserved children of ORCA Homes.
