We strongly condemn the recent assault on a defense lawyer at Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Court. This incident violates Article 33 of the Bangladesh Constitution, which guarantees legal defense rights. Such actions also breach the Bangladesh Bar Council's Code of Conduct, which upholds lawyers' duty to represent clients without fear or intimidation.
We urge immediate action against those responsible and call on the Bangladesh Bar Council to enforce these professional standards. A just legal system depends on safeguarding every individual’s right to fair representation.
