Ace English with Miss Seemanti

Ace English with Miss Seemanti This is an English Reading & Recitation class aimed to hone strong communication skills in children.

Please note that this is not an English Grammar class. Grammar classes are conducted separately. This is our Reading and Recitation class for young learners, and as part of it, we solve comprehension exercises extensively to develop a thorough understanding of the text.

My little students, who came in with zero confidence in their comprehension skills, are now able to find and frame their own answers. This progress has been achieved in just two months.

For every lesson, I discuss each and every question and answer in great detail and encourage my students to develop their own understanding and approach to answering. They then write their answers independently, without my intervention. My intervention comes only during the correction stage. I expect my students to make mistakes, which I then correct in detail, and I ask them to redo selected work until they achieve perfection.

Discussion of a comprehension exercise. The students are starting to get stronger in their comprehension skills. A little nudge from the teacher goes a long way!

A snippet of a reading class with a student who's just starting to get a grasp of the English language.

It's not always about correcting every pronunciation as the student reads. When a child first starts out, it's only natural that their pronunciation and diction aren't going to be fluent. So, it's necessary that, as a teacher or parent, you allow your child to learn to read at their own pace, with only slight but important corrective interventions. This allows them to build confidence and not feel like reading isn't their cup of tea.

English is an intimidating language for second-language learners, and the one thing you don't want to do is constantly interrupt their reading to correct every little error. These improvements will come with time, once the confidence to read is strong. Of course, I correct and intervene, but only when needed. And I let go wherever possible.

What I work on the most at this stage is comprehension. Is the student able to understand what they are reading? And to what degree can they express their understanding in their own words? These are the two focal points of the initial stage of reading classes.

If the child is unable to understand what they are reading and why, they aren't going to be excited about learning, and the whole process of trying to learn a new language becomes not only boring but also intimidating.

We build confidence first, and fluency follows naturally. But with me, the process is definitely rigorous and detail-oriented.

This is a Reading & Recitation in English programme designed to help children develop confidence in communicating in English while cultivating a genuine habit of reading.

Please note that this is not an English Language & Literature tuition class. The two are separate disciplines.

In this programme, students will:

• Read with clarity, fluency, and expression.
• Develop their comprehension skills and learn to express their understanding clearly and confidently.
• Build their vocabulary naturally through reading.
• Learn poetry recitation as a means of strengthening memory, pronunciation, expression, and confidence.

There will be three classes per week, making a total of 12 classes per month.

# Batch 1 (4–8 years)

* Sunday (currently Saturday): 9:00 AM–10:30 AM
* Tuesday: 5:00 PM–6:30 PM
* Thursday: 5:00 PM–6:30 PM

# Batch 2 (9–12 years)

Please note that placement is based not only on age but also on a child's reading ability, comprehension, and overall proficiency in English. Students in the 9–12-year age group who are still developing these foundational skills may be advised to join the younger batch so that they receive instruction at a pace best suited to their needs.

The monthly fee is Tk 5,000, payable at the beginning of each month.

Classes are held in Uttara. The exact location will be shared upon confirmation of enrolment.

Thank you, and I look forward to hearing from you.

Meet Miss Seemanti Paul.

As an English Language & Literature teacher, storyteller, and elocutionist, I bring with me not only years of teaching experience but also a lifelong discipline shaped by growing up in a boarding school in the hills of Darjeeling.

My vision is simple. I want children to acquire English naturally—not as a subject to memorise, but as a language to think, feel, and express themselves in. Through the disciplines of reading and recitation, they learn far more than pronunciation or vocabulary. They develop confidence, creativity, critical thinking, empathy, and the ability to communicate with clarity and purpose.

I believe that true language learning nurtures every language a child speaks. Moreover, when a child develops a love for reading and learning poems, the discipline not only strengthens their English communication skills, rather it enhances the love and understanding of one's mother tongue, and deepens an appreciation for all languages.

Having studied and trained in India, I bring an approach that values expression, discipline, and depth—qualities that are increasingly rare but more important than ever in today's world of the increasing use of artificial intelligence.

If you would like to know more about my Reading & Recitation Programme or discuss whether it is suitable for your child, please feel free to send me a message or contact me through the details provided below.

I look forward to welcoming your child into a lifelong journey with language. 🤍

Here is a glimpse into one of my reading classes.

It is crucial to review details from previous sessions before advancing to new material. When children are developing reading habits, we must facilitate their recall and revision without simply reiterating everything they have learned. The idea is to gently nudge the child towards recalling the story, rather than retelling or narrating every event and detail. It is obvious that a child will not remember everything. However, for a child who is only beginning to nurture the habit of reading, being able to connect the dots and remember the characters and their roles is already a big win for both the child and the teacher.

It is also natural that a child's attention span is brief. So, when they introduce an unrelated topic, I do not interrupt or prevent them from expressing their thoughts. As their teacher and guide, I listen attentively, engage with what is on their mind, and then gently redirect the conversation back to the main topic. This helps the child transition seamlessly into the revision process while feeling seen and heard simultaneously. It also becomes a valuable catch-up and warm-up session, both academically and personally, before we begin the reading lesson for the day.

By the end of the recap session, you can notice that the child who was initially hesitant and needed to be nudged into the lesson, has all of a sudden found their interest, and is excited and ready for the lesson now.
