Promoting Public Participation in Sports: CLPA and Bangladesh National Sports Council Host Key Discussion in Dhaka with 30 Federations and Associations.

We're on a mission to combat non-communicable diseases (NCDs) in Bangladesh, which account for 67% of all deaths in our country. By encouraging regular physical exercise, healthy eating habits, and reducing environmental pollution, we aim to prevent premature deaths and improve public health. Currently, 29.13% of our population does not meet the World Health Organization's recommended physical activity levels, and 20.5% of adults face issues related to being overweight, with 25.1% of women and 16.0% of men affected. The National Sports Policy 2022 (Draft) provides a comprehensive strategy to enhance sports at all levels, making physical education mandatory in schools, involving local governments in allocating budgets for sports infrastructure, and raising awareness about healthy lifestyles. Key aspects of the policy include supporting indigenous and rural sports, identifying and nurturing grassroots talent, developing sports infrastructure, and ensuring nutritional support for athletes. Recommendations for success include adopting long-term sports policies, increasing allocations for sports federations, organizing regular competitions, utilizing technology to boost public interest in sports, and collecting feedback to continuously improve activities. Together, we can foster a culture of sports and physical activities, leading to a healthier, more vibrant Bangladesh. Let's make this vision a reality!
