‘তাপসনিঃশ্বাসবায়ে মূমুর্ষুরে দাও উড়ায়ে

আবারও পুরাতনের খোলস ছেড়ে নবরূপে সেজেছে প্রকৃতি, সেজেছে জীবন। সেই নতুনেরি-খানিক বিলম্বিত- বরণের বর্ণাঢ্য আয়োজনে গত রবিবার, ২৬ এপ্রিল ২০২৬ তারিখে বাংলাদেশ ভবনের দুয়ার উন্মুক্ত করেছিলেন মিসেস জোবায়দা খানম ও ইথিওপিয়াতে নিযুক্ত বাংলাদেশের রাষ্ট্রদূত এয়ার ভাইস মার্শাল সিতওয়াত নাঈম। বর্ণিল সাজে অলংকৃত বাংলাদেশ ভবন প্রাঙ্গণে ইথিওপিয়াতে বসবাসরত প্রবাসী বাঙালী ও দূতাবাস কর্মকর্তাদের উপস্থিতিতে একটি প্রাঞ্জল দুপুর ও মধ্যহ্নভোজের মধ্য দিয়ে বরণ করে নেয়া হয় ১৪৩৩ বঙ্গাব্দকে, নতুন আশায়, নতুন প্রতিজ্ঞায়।
Once again, nature and life have shed off the old to embrace the new. To celebrate arrival of this new-albeit belatedly- in a colorful and soulful manner, Mrs. Jobaida Khatun and Ambassador Air Vice Marshall Sitwat Nayeem opened the doors to the Bangladesh House on Sunday, 26 April 2026. Bangla New Year 1433 was thus welcomed with new hopes and new promises, through the lively presence of expatriate Bangladeshis and Embassy colleagues at a luncheon in the adorned Bangladesh House premises.

H.E. Dr. Khalilur Rahman, Hon'ble Foreign Minister, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Bangladesh, had a courtesy meet with H.E. Gedion Timothewos (SJD), Hon'ble Foreign Minister, The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia, at the latter's office on 21 April 2026.
During discussion, the two Ministers exchanged views on areas of cooperation in both bilateral and multilateral relations. They emphasized the importance of strengthening mutual cooperation and highlighted the historical ties and shared values between the two countries.
The meeting was also attended by H.E. Mr. Humaiun Kobir, Hon'ble Foreign Affairs Adviser to Hon'ble Prime Minister of the Government of Bangladesh.

H.E. Dr. Khalilur Rahman, Hon'ble Foreign Minister, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Bangladesh, paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Taye Atskeselassie Amde, Hon'ble President of Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, at the latter's office, Office of the President, Ethiopia, on 21 April 2026. Hon'ble Foreign Affairs Adviser to Hon’ble Prime Minister of Bangladesh, H.E. Mr. Humaiun Kobir was present during the call.
At the outset, the President congratulated the new government and the people of Bangladesh on the successful conduct of the February 2026 elections and extended his greetings to Hon’ble Prime Minister for his landslide victory in the recent general elections. He also appreciated Bangladesh’s continued contributions to UN peacekeeping operations, particularly in Africa.
The Foreign Minister underscored the importance of enhancing economic engagement and identified potential areas of cooperation, including ready-made garments, pharmaceuticals and jute products. He requested the President to open Ethiopia’s embassy in Dhaka.
The President welcomed Bangladeshi investment in Ethiopia, particularly in the garments and pharmaceutical sectors. He highlighted the need for closer interaction between the business communities of the two countries including business-level cooperation to facilitate trade and investment.
Both sides expressed satisfaction with the existing cooperation between the two countries in various international forums, including the UN, the NAM, the Group of 77 and the South-South Cooperation. They reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening collaboration in the multilateral arena.
The Foreign Minister invited the President to visit Bangladesh at a mutually convenient time.

The Embassy is deeply saddened by the sudden demise of Mr. Mahbubur Rahman, Commerce Secretary, The People's Republic of Bangladesh, on 17 April 2026.
It was only last month, on 24 March 2026 that the Embassy had the honor of facilitating the late Secretary's transit through Addis Ababa, as deputy head of delegation to the Hon'ble Commerce Minister, enroute to WTO MC14 and also seen them off on their return journey to Dhaka.
The Embassy family conveys its deepest condolences and offers earnest prayers for this veteran civil servant's departed soul.

Ambassador Air Vice Marshall Sitwat Nayeem had a courtesy meet with H.E. Nezha Alaoui M’hammdi, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco at the latter's office. During meeting, various aspects of bilateral relations and deepening of cooperation at multilateral forums like the United Nations, were touched upon.
