"Motherhood: All love begins and ends there." — Robert Browning
A mother’s embrace carries immeasurable tenderness and comfort- a feeling of being at home, a feeling that washes away all fatigue. The bond between a mother and her child is a miraculous, enduring force of nature that cannot be severed by any means. As the first teachers of humanity, protectors, nurturers, and guides, they give their utmost effort to champion their children so they grow into righteous adults and future pillars of society. Their whole-hearted devotion, self-sacrifice, and resilience form the foundation and guide the futures of families, communities, societies, and civilizations. A mother is someone who will always be cheering you on, even if the world turns its back on you.
The IEEE NSU Student Branch, Women In Engineering Affinity Group honors all mothers worldwide, celebrates their triumphs over challenges, and expresses gratitude for their selfless contributions to our daily lives. Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers around the world!

On March 11, 2026, The IEEE NSU Student Branch WIE Affinity Group successfully organized an online screening of the empowering biographical drama “Hidden Figures” in celebration of International Women’s Day. The session began with the host briefly introducing the significance of IWD and providing a short overview of IEEE and WIE's mission to promote women in engineering and technology. A concise introduction to the film’s context followed, setting the stage for the screening.
The movie highlighted the inspiring stories of Katherine Johnson, Dorothy Vaughan, and Mary Jackson, three African-American mathematicians whose pivotal contributions shaped NASA’s early space missions. Their journey shed light on the systemic barriers that women, especially women of color, face in STEM, and the extraordinary resilience with which they overcome them.
Following the screening, participants engaged in a thoughtful discussion exploring the film's central themes, including gender inequality, perseverance, representation, and the ongoing challenges women face in male-dominated scientific spaces. The conversation encouraged meaningful reflections on how these narratives continue to influence and inspire present-day engineers and students.
The event concluded with participants sharing their insights, admiration, and appreciation for the pioneering women portrayed in the film, as well as for the countless women worldwide who continue to defy limitations and reshape the future of STEM.

IEEE NSU Student Branch Women in Engineering (WIE) Affinity Group is delighted to inform you of the talk on "Building a Personal Brand that Opens Global Opportunities" to celebrate International Women's Day, 2026. In the modern global marketplace that is extremely interconnected, a personal brand is the first impression one can have. Not only does it convey what an engineer knows but also what the engineer operates, as well as his or her leadership capabilities and potential.
This event will have a keynote speech to be delivered by Dr. Naznin Akter, a vibrant engineering leader holding more than 7 years of experience in semiconductor manufacturing, advanced node research and development, and operation excellence through data. During her technically critical positions in major semiconductor firms, both at Intel and Micron, she was very instrumental in the integration of FEOL processes, module engineering, yield scale-up, and scale-up of manufacturing. She currently holds several senior leadership positions within IEEE, including Co-chair of IEEE Women in Engineering Global Ambassador subcommittee and IEEE Entrepreneurship Liaison for IEEE Women in Engineering. The seminar would provide students with a realistic roadmap of academic performance to professional performance as they will come out of the classroom and on to the professional environment to be able to help them develop a good personal brand that will facilitate their move between university learning and getting into high-impact jobs in the industry.
The session will help students to learn the skills of effectively communicating their technical problem-solving experience, emphasizing their participation in community-oriented engineering activities, and developing the strategic confidence required to attract the interest of international recruiters and open the doors to world leadership. So don't miss this unique chance of being taught by one of the world's engineering pioneers!
