বেশ কয়েক মাস ধরেই সাংবাদিক নাজমুস সাকিব দাবি করে আসছেন ঢালিউডের নায়িকা অপু বিশ্বাসের সাথে নাকি বসুন্ধরা গ্রূপের চেয়ারম্যান আহমেদ আকবর সোবহান ওরফে শাহ আলমের অবৈধ সম্পর্ক রয়েছে। এ ঘটনার সত্যতা জানতে এশিয়াগ্রামের পক্ষ থেকে শাহ আলমের ঘনিষ্ট কিছু সূত্রের সাথে যোগাযোগ করা হয়। নাম প্রকাশ না করার শর্তে তারা জানান, যেদিন থেকে অপু বিশ্বাস বসুন্ধরা গ্রূপের চেয়ারম্যানের বাসার পাশেই বসতি গড়েন (বসুন্ধরা আবাসিক এলাকাতে); সেদিন থেকে শাহ আলমের স্ত্রী আফরোজার সাথে শাহ আলমের পারিবারিক সমস্যা সৃষ্টি হতে থাকে (অপু বিশ্বাসকে কেন্দ্র করে)।

তাছাড়া অপু বিশ্বাস চলচ্চিত্র থেকে এমন কোনো অর্থ উপার্জন করেন নি; যা দিয়ে ঐরকম একটা ব্যায়বহুল এলাকাতে তার পক্ষে এরকম বিলাসবহুল একটি বাড়ি বানানো সম্ভব।জানা যায় মূলত বাড়িটা শাহ আলমের পক্ষ থেকে অপু বিশ্বাসকে "উপহার" দেয়া হয়। তাছাড়া এই সম্পর্কের বিষয়টি জানাজানি হওয়ার পর থেকেই অপু বিশ্বাসের সাথে শাকিব খানের দূরত্ব তৈরী হয়; যা পরবর্তীতে বিচ্ছেদে রূপান্তরিত হয়।
