𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙎𝙩𝙧𝙪𝙜𝙜𝙡𝙚𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝙈𝙙. 𝙈𝙤𝙣𝙞𝙧 𝙃𝙤𝙨𝙨𝙖𝙞𝙣: 𝘼 𝙎𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙮 𝙤𝙛 𝘾𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙖𝙜𝙚
Md. Monir Hossain, originally from Patuakhali, lived with his wife and energetic three-year-old son in a rented house near Chowrasta, Gazipur. His son was very playful, filling their home with laughter. He was almost ready to start school. Monir worked in a garment factory in Gazipur to support both his own family and his elderly parents living in the village. Though they weren’t in extreme poverty, they struggled to make ends meet.

In July 2024, when students and people across the country started protesting against inequality, Monir decided to join them, setting aside his family’s uncertainties. From July 18, he actively took part in protests in Gazipur’s Chowrasta area.
On July 20, at 11:30 AM, the protest turned violent as the police started shooting. One of the bullets went through both of Monir’s legs. While others ran to save themselves, Monir, bleeding heavily, used his hands to support himself and stay conscious. A co-worker helped him get to Dhaka City Hospital, but the hospital refused to treat him because he was part of the protest.

Later, with the help of his wife and family, Monir was taken to Shaheed Tajuddin Medical College Hospital. From there, he was transferred to the National Orthopedic Hospital for better treatment.

𝘾𝙪𝙧𝙧𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙎𝙩𝙧𝙪𝙜𝙜𝙡𝙚𝙨: 𝘼 𝘿𝙖𝙧𝙠 𝘾𝙝𝙖𝙥𝙩𝙚𝙧
The bullet caused severe damage to Monir’s leg bones. He now has metal rings on his legs, and doctors are trying to heal his wounds by transferring flesh from other parts of his body. Monir has been in the hospital for five months and has undergone several surgeries. His family, now without his income, is forced to borrow money to survive. Monir lost his job at the garment factory, leaving the family in complete uncertainty. His wife, child, brother-in-law, and father-in-law are staying with him at the hospital, but they have no money to meet their daily needs.

𝙃𝙤𝙥𝙚 𝙛𝙧𝙤𝙢 “𝘽𝙚𝙮𝙤𝙣𝙙 𝙅𝙪𝙡𝙮 36”
The “Beyond July 36” team has stepped in to help Monir. Since December 2024, they have been providing his family with financial aid of 10,000 BDT per month for six months. The team is also staying in regular contact with Monir’s family and keeping track of his treatment.

Monir’s family knows this fight is not theirs alone. His little son still waits for his father to recover and come back home. Monir’s courage and his family’s determination teach us that no matter how tough life gets, hope keeps us moving forward.

We believe Monir will one day stand on his feet again and bring back happiness to his family’s life.

"মোঃ মনির হোসেনের লড়াই: সাহসের প্রতিচ্ছবি"
জন্মসূত্রে পটুয়াখালীর বাসিন্দা হলেও জীবিকার তাগিদে স্ত্রী ও তিন বছরের দুরন্ত ছেলেকে নিয়ে গাজীপুরের চৌরাস্তা সংলগ্ন এলাকায় একটি ভাড়া ভাসায় বসবাস করতেন মোঃ মনির হোসেন। ছেলেটি এতটাই চঞ্চল যে বাড়ির চারপাশ মুখরিত থাকত তার কোলাহলে। নিয়মিত স্কুলে যাওয়ার সময় হয়ে এসেছে প্রায়। গাজীপুরের একটি গার্মেন্টসে চাকরি করে মনির যেমন নিজের সংসার চালাতেন, তেমনই পটুয়াখালীর গ্রামে থাকা বৃদ্ধ বাবা-মায়ের দেখাশোনাও করতেন। অভাব তাদেরকে গোগ্রাসে না গিললেও, খুব যে স্বচ্ছলতা ছিল, তাও না।

২০২৪ সালের জুলাই। দেশব্যাপী ছাত্র-জনতা বৈষম্যের শিকল ভাঙতে আন্দোলনে নামে। সাহসী মনির তার পরিবারের অনিশ্চয়তাকে পাশ কাটিয়ে রাস্তায় নেমে আসেন। ১৮ জুলাই থেকে তিনি গাজীপুরের চৌরাস্তা এলাকায় আন্দোলনে সক্রিয়ভাবে অংশ নেন।
২০ জুলাই, সকাল সাড়ে ১১টা। পুলিশের ছোঁড়া গুলিতে চৌরাস্তা এলাকা রক্তাক্ত হয়ে ওঠে। একপর্যায়ে, পুলিশের একটি গুলি মনিরের দুই পা ভেদ করে। রক্তাক্ত শরীর নিয়ে যখন সবাই পালিয়ে বাঁচার চেষ্টা করছে, মনির নিজের হাতে ভর দিয়ে তার আহত শরীরকে সামলান। সহকর্মীর সহায়তায় তিনি দ্রুত ঢাকা সিটি হাসপাতালে পৌঁছান। কিন্তু আন্দোলনের রোগী হিসেবে চিকিৎসকরা তাকে ফিরিয়ে দেয়।

পরবর্তীতে স্ত্রী ও পরিবারের অন্য সদস্যদের সহায়তায় তাকে শহীদ তাজউদ্দিন মেডিকেল কলেজ হাসপাতালে নেওয়া হয়। সেখান থেকে উন্নত চিকিৎসার জন্য তাকে জাতীয় অর্থোপেডিক হাসপাতালে স্থানান্তর করা হয়।

"বর্তমান সংগ্রাম: এক অন্ধকার অধ্যায়"
গুলিতে মনিরের দুই পায়ের হাড় মারাত্মকভাবে ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত। তার পায়ে লোহার রিং লাগানো বর্তমানে। ক্ষতস্থান সারাতে মাংস কেটে প্রতিস্থাপন করা হচ্ছে। পাঁচ মাস ধরে তিনি হাসপাতালে ভর্তি। ইতিমধ্যেই বেশকিছু অপারেশনের সম্মুখীন হতে হয়েছে তাকে। চিকিৎসা এবং সংসারের খরচ মেটাতে এখন তার পরিবারকে ধার করে চলতে হচ্ছে। গার্মেন্টসের চাকরি হারানোর পর পরিবারটি সম্পূর্ণ অনিশ্চয়তায় ডুবে গেছে। স্ত্রী, সন্তান, শ্যালক এবং শ্বশুর তার সেবা করার জন্য দিন-রাত হাসপাতালে কাটাচ্ছে। তাদের চলার জন্য প্রয়োজনীয় অর্থ নেই।

"Beyond July 36"-এর আশার আলো
মনিরের বীরত্বের প্রতি সম্মান জানিয়ে "Beyond July 36" টিম তার পাশে দাঁড়িয়েছে। তার পরিবারের আর্থিক সংকট সামাল দিতে ডিসেম্বর ২০২৪ থেকে প্রতি মাসে ১০,০০০ টাকা করে ছয় মাসের জন্য সহায়তা দেওয়া হচ্ছে। টিমটি মনিরের চিকিৎসার আপডেট রাখার পাশাপাশি তার পরিবারের সঙ্গে নিয়মিত যোগাযোগ রাখছে।

তবে মনিরের পরিবার জানে, এই লড়াইটা শুধু তাদের একার নয়। তাদের সন্তান এখনো বাবাকে সুস্থভাবে ফিরে পাওয়ার অপেক্ষায়। মনিরের সাহস আর তার পরিবারের অদম্য লড়াই আমাদের শিখিয়ে দেয়, প্রতিকূলতা যতই বড় হোক, আশা কখনো মরে না।
আমরা বিশ্বাস করি, মনির একদিন আবার নিজ পায়ে দাঁড়াবে এবং তার পরিবারের মুখে হাসি ফিরিয়ে আনবে।

7 Aug '24: Beyond July 36 formation meeting. Munim bhai said something very important - probably with our limited resources, we will not be able to help many July 36 victims. But let's try to help at least a few who helplessly need dedicated support to turn around in life stream.

Hence, here is one of the cases where BEYOND JULY 36 stood by with a clear line of sight:

S.A.M, 22 years old girl, her brother was shot by police on 19th July and died on 20th due to excessive bleeding. She visited several mourges to find the deadbody. She checked over 50 deadbodies to find out his brother. Police and BAL didn't allowed them to buried in Dhaka. She took the body to Barisal for burial. There she had to bribe police to buried the deadbody.

Her father and mother couldn't take the shock, they died on 13th September and 19th September. Mother was in ICU for 10 days. She had to manage all the formalities alone. She left with one elder brother and unfortunately he was addict.

After all these incidents, she had to escape from home, as local politicians were forcing her to file case according to their provided list.

From Beyond July 36, we adopted these sister and brother. We admitted her brother in Rehab, he is improving Alhumdulliah. Hope he'll be ok in 3 more months.

We admitted S.A.M in 2nd year HSC, so that she can continue her education. We took her to BSMMU to treat mental health. Alhumdulliah, today she joined 'Uppercrust' as Trainee in service team. Grateful to Uppercrust for showing the great empathy.

From August, we visited lot of martyr families, we tried to remain beside them. Most of them are severely struggling. People are misusing them. Hardly any of them got financial support from government, due to lengthy bureaucracy. And these families need holistic support not only money. These families need to be rebuild. By announcing funds without guidelines, govt is actually breaking the families. Differences, arguments are going on with in-laws, brothers and other relatives. Even local people are also exploiting.

জুলাই - আগষ্ট এর রক্ত হিম করা মর্মান্তিক ঘটনাগুলো হয়তো অনেকেরই বিস্মৃতিতে চলে যাচ্ছে। কিন্তু কেউ কেউ আছে যাদের হৃদয়ে সেই সময়ের আত্নত্যাগ গুলো গেথে গেছে। তাদেরই একজন BEYOND JULY 36 এর সক্রিয় সদস্য ইমতিয়াজ। মনে রেখেছিলো ছোট্ট শহীদ আনাসের জন্মদিন ১৪ অক্টোবর। কাউকে কিছু বলেনি, মায়ার জালে আটকে নিজে থেকেই চলে গেছে শহীদের পরিবারের পাশে বসে ভালোবাসায় একটু মমতার হাত বাড়াতে। দেশের এই অদম্য সাহসী সূর্য সন্তানরা আছে বলেই আমরা এখনো বাংলাদেশ নিয়ে আশান্বিত হই!!

Everyone is deeply grateful to the doctors, nurses, and staff—but you can see a simple but tell-tale illustration of their limitations on the X-ray plate of Eye Hospital; the word “down” is spelled as “DWON.”

He is 15 years old (born in 2008), although the X-ray plates say 18Y.

Beyond is a platform of ex-BATB colleagues. We personally go and visit every person to learn exactly what they need and what they’re going through.

Next week, we will publish the details of the victims and martyrs’ families. Our earnest request is that you consider taking care of them in whatever way you can.

The interim government is taking care of the treatment that can be availed at public hospitals. Still, they need to buy food, pay their children’s school fees, buy their dependent parents’ medicines, pay for many relevant expenses associated with their treatments, and pay for treatments that are not available at these public institutions…

Please give them jobs if you can.

Some have experience working at RMG factories, while some have experience working at shops, and some have other employable skills. In whatever way you can—give them jobs or help them learn a new employable skill—please consider stepping forward.

BEYOND JULY 36: Expense Dashboard 21 Aug 2024

ইতিহাস জানে, বাঙালী জাতি যখনই ক্রান্তিকাল পার করেছে, কখনোই তারা একা অনুভব করেনি। হাজার মাইল দূরে থাকা, অন্য আকাশের নিচে যে বাংলাদেশী ভাই বোনেরা থাকেন, যাদের মন পড়ে থাকে যাদুর শহরে, তারা সবসময়ই দেশের জন্য সহায়তার হাত বাড়িয়ে দিয়েছেন। যে যেভাবে পেরেছেন, সে সেভাবে সাহায্য করেছেন। জুলাই ৩৬ এর এই মহাতান্ডবের সময় এবারো তার ব্যতিক্রম হয়নি।

আমাদের অনেক সিনিয়র কলিগ/ Boss দের থেকে আমরা সাহায্য পাচ্ছি, সহোযোগিতার এক মহান উদাহরণ আমরা তৈরী হতে দেখছি। তারই এক অনন্য উদাহরন সৃষ্টি করেছেন Bangladeshi Community living in Charleston, South Carolina য় বসবাসরত বাংলাদেশীরা। সেখানকার ছোটো ছোটো বন্ধুরাও সুদূর পরবাস থেকে জুলাই ৩৬ এ আহত ছাত্র জনতার জন্য USD 1,201 পাঠিয়েছেন। আমরা অসহায় ছাত্র জনতার কাছে আপনাদের এই অনুদান পৌছে দেয়ার জন্য প্রতীজ্ঞাবদ্ধ। এ প্রসঙ্গে বিশেষভাবে ধন্যবাদ জ্ঞাপন করছি শিবলী ভাই এর প্রতি যিনি সেই সুদূর South Carolina য় বসে আমাদের উৎসাহ দিয়ে যাচ্ছেন।
