GENESIS
The Heads of the States or governments established the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) on the 8th day of December 1985. Seven south Asian Nations, namely Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, The Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka were the founder members of the Regional Association. SAARC Agriculture Centre successfully completed a two-day training on “Advancing Workplace Excellence: Digital Skills and Professional Etiquette for GS Staff” held on 19-20 April 2026.

The programme concluded with closing remarks by Dr. Md. Harunur Rashid, Director, SAARC Agriculture Centre and focused on strengthening digital skills and professional workplace practices among GS staff.

SAARC Agriculture Centre organized a two-day training on “Advancing Workplace Excellence: Digital Skills and Professional Etiquette for GS Staff” on 19–20 April 2026.

The programme was inaugurated by Dr. Md. Harunur Rashid, Director, SAARC Agriculture Centre. The training focused on enhancing digital skills and professional etiquette among GS staff to improve workplace efficiency and service quality.

SAARC Agriculture Centre (SAC) successfully organized a webinar on “Adoption of Alternate Cropping System for Risk Minimization for Smallholder Farmers” on 16 April 2026, bringing together experts and practitioners from across the region.

The session featured insightful contributions from Dr. Md Harunur Rashid, Director of SAC and Dr. Meraj Alam Ansari of ICAR–IIFSR, India, highlighting key risks and sustainable solutions for smallholder farmers. Around 150 participants from SAARC countries and beyond joined the interactive discussion.

The event concluded with closing remarks by Mr. Tanvir Ahmad Torophder, Director (ARD & SDF) SAARC Secretariat, Nepal, reaffirming the importance of regional collaboration for resilient agriculture.

SAC Director Dr. Md. Harunur Rashid emphasised SAC’s commitment to promoting knowledge sharing among SAARC member states. Representatives from CABI Bangladesh, CABI Pakistan and the Sustainable Agriculture Foundation, Bangladesh visited the SAARC Agriculture Centre (SAC) and met with the Senior Programme Specialists of SAC.

The meeting focused on strengthening collaboration for the development of agriculture across SAARC Member States. Senior officials from the respective organisations were also present.
