BINDU Nari Unnayan Sangathan celebrated International Women’s Day 2026 with the second day of the GRDRRIB project observance through a powerful human display in Assasuni on 16 March.
Day 1 (15 March) featured a vibrant rally in Shyamnagar Upazila.
A total of 300 Embankment Protection Group members, 10 GIHA members, and 16 BINDU staff participated, raising awareness on women’s rights, gender equality, women-friendly cyclone shelters, and embankments. 💪💜

International Women’s Day 2026 was celebrated under the Gender Responsive Disaster Risk Reduction in Bangladesh (GRDRRIB) project. BINDU organized a two-day celebration, with the first observance held in Munshiganj among participants from Padmapukur and Gabura unions. A total of 150 members of the Embankment Protection Group, 10 GIHA members, and 16 BINDU staff participated in the program.
Women raised slogans and carried placards highlighting women’s rights, gender equality, prevention of GBV, climate change awareness, and the need for women-friendly embankments. Jointly Implemented By: BINDU Nari Unnayan Sangathan, AFAD & ASDDW. Supported By: Embassy of Sweden and UN Women.

On 11 March 2026, UN Women conducted Evaluation event for EmPower-II project among Civil Society Organizations and Grassroots Organizers. The evaluation was held at Pakhimara Cyclone Shelter, where they interacted with 30 direct and indirect beneficiaries of LAPA. The team also visited the solar installation and embankment in Paddapukur.
This initiative was carried out under the project “Empower: Women for Climate Resilient Societies (PHASE-II)” 🤝, implemented by BINDU Nari Unnayan Sangathan 💠 and supported by Manusher Jonno Foundation (MJF) and UN Women.

Today, BINDU Nari Unnayan Sangathan organized a rally and discussion program in front of the District Commissioner’s Office in collaboration with the District Relief & Rehabilitation Office (DRRO) to observe Disaster Preparedness Day.
The program was held under the project “Gender Responsive Disaster Risk Reduction in Bangladesh (GRDRRIB)”, jointly implemented by AFAD, BINDU Nari Unnayan Sangathan, and ASDDW.
Representatives from government offices, local organizations, and community members participated in the rally and discussion to raise awareness about disaster preparedness and the importance of gender-responsive disaster risk reduction to protect women, children, and vulnerable communities during disasters. The project is supported by the Embassy of Sweden and UN Women.

🌟 She Leads Safety: Gender-Responsive Solar Installations in Emergency Shelters 🌟
BINDU Nari Unnayan Sangathan has installed solar backup systems and a dedicated Women & Girls’ Safety Corner in two cyclone shelters at Paddapukur Union, ensuring the protection and well-being of women and girls during disasters such as cyclones. 🚨💡
These installations—selected through the Local Adaptation Plan of Action (LAPA) scheme—will provide reliable lighting and power when needed most. They also support CPP volunteers in keeping shelters safe and functional during emergencies. The Safety Corner offers essential support for women’s SRHR protection in times of crisis.
✨ This initiative is part of the project “Empower: Women for Climate-Resilient Societies – Phase II,” supported by Manusher Jonno Foundation and UN Women.

🌊 Success Stories of Coastal Adaptation in Bangladesh 🌱
Under the project “Strengthening the Coping Capacity of Vulnerable People Facing Challenges from the Adverse Effects of Climate Change (SCOPE)”, meaningful steps are being taken to build resilience in coastal communities.
Through this initiative, Community Development Women Groups (CDWG) were supported to demonstrate climate-smart technologies (both on-farm and off-farm) alongside reproductive health practices. These efforts are helping women adapt to climate risks while improving livelihoods and wellbeing.

BINDU Nari Unnayan Sangathan shared its Project Initiation Letter and Project Concept with key government stakeholders under the Gender Responsive Disaster Risk Reduction in Bangladesh (GRDRRIB).

This initiative is part of the Gender Responsive Disaster Risk Reduction in Bangladesh (GRDRRIB) Project, implemented in Shyamnagar and Assasuni Upazilas, Satkhira. The project is jointly implemented by AFAD, BINDU Nari Unnayan Sangathan, and ASDDW, with support from UN Women.

On 27 January 2026, representatives from BRAC Bank, renewable energy women entrepreneurs, and renewable energy users participated in an interactive dialogue session focusing on banking loan opportunities for women entrepreneurs in renewable energy.
The discussion emphasized women’s access to finance, renewable energy solutions, and climate-resilient livelihoods to strengthen and scale up sustainable income opportunities for women and other marginalized groups in climate hotspot areas of Bangladesh.
