BIRDI Disseminating Workshop

The Skills for Industry Competitiveness and Innovation Program (SICIP) of the Finance Division, Ministry of Finance, successfully organized a workshop on the Bangladesh Industry Research, Development and Innovation (BIRDI) Grants on August 25, 2025, at the Hotel Intercontinental Dhaka. The workshop brought together researchers, academicians, and industry professionals to guide prospective applicants on submitting an Expression of Interest (EOI) for innovative grants. Mr. Mohammed Walid Hossain, Additional Secretary and Executive Program Director (EPD) of SICIP, delivered the welcome address, while Dr. Ziaul Abedin, Additional Secretary of the Finance Division, emphasized the strategic importance of the initiative as the Guest of Honor. The workshop attracted more than 100 enthusiastic researchers from across various industries, paving a new way forward for Bangladesh.

"Launching ceremony of BIRDI Grant"

Dissemination Seminar on “Bangladesh Industry Research Development and Innovation (BIRDI) grant was held at Dhaka, Hotel Inter-Continental on February 27, 2025 with a view to address critical gaps in Research Development and Innovation (RDI) capacity by fostering collaboration between industry and academia, enabling businesses to develop innovative, market-driven solutions. Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed, Honorable Finance Adviser was present as the chief guest of the event. The Honorable Finance Adviser appreciated the effort and wished every success of this innovative initiative.

Representations from senior officials of different government entities, Vice Chancellors of educational institutes, industry associations and ADB personnel were present in the event. Mr. Mohammed Walid Hossain, Additional Secretary and Executive Program Director (EPD) of SICIP was the moderator of the event.

The official launching ceremony between SICIP & PKSF, funded by the SDCMU under SICIP program of Finance Division of the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, was held at Auditorium-2 in PKSF Bhaban on Monday, July 28, 2025.

Dr. Md. Khairuzzaman Mozumder, Honorable Secretary of the Finance Division and National Program Director of SICIP, attended as the Chief Guest. Mr. Mohammed Walid Hossain, Executive Program Director of SICIP and Additional Secretary to the Government, was present as the Special Guest. The event was presided over by Mr. Zakir Ahmed Khan, Honorable Chairman of PKSF.
