WE KNOW THE REAL OBIDIENTS OF 2022–2023.
They did not rise for Peter Obi because they expected rewards.
They did not march because they wanted appointments.
They did not volunteer because they wanted contracts.
They did not donate because they expected reimbursement.
They did not spend their time, energy and resources because they hoped to receive a brown envelope or a white envelope.
They never sought private meetings with Peter Obi to negotiate personal benefits.
They never demanded recognition.
They never demanded titles.
They never demanded influence.
They never demanded access.
And years later, many of them still remain Obidient.
Not because it is fashionable.
Not because it is profitable.
Not because it is convenient.
But because they believe in the cause that brought them together.
The genuine Obidient movement was unlike anything Nigeria had witnessed in modern political history.
Young people.
Old people.
Christians.
Muslims.
Traditionalists.
Southerners.
Northerners.
Professionals.
Students.
Artisans.
People from different tribes, languages and backgrounds.
Many had never participated in politics before.
Yet they came together around an idea.
The idea that Nigeria could be governed differently.
The idea that competence should matter.
The idea that public office should be a place of service rather than personal enrichment.
The idea that accountability should not be optional.
The idea that character still counts.
The real Obidient never expected Peter Obi to be perfect.
They simply considered him a better alternative than the options before the nation.
They examined his record.
They studied his years in public office.
They compared him with others.
They reached their conclusions.
And many have not changed those conclusions.
They know what Peter Obi has done.
They know what Peter Obi has not done.
They know his strengths.
They know his limitations.
They know his style.
And they are comfortable with that assessment.
They are not driven primarily by ethnicity.
They are not driven primarily by religion.
They are not driven primarily by sentiment.
They are driven by conviction.
To the committed Obidient, politics is not a football match.
It is about the future of millions.
It is about schools.
It is about hospitals.
It is about jobs.
It is about security.
It is about governance.
It is about whether public resources are used for the people or consumed by the political class.
Many of them believe:
You cannot claim to fight corruption while protecting corrupt systems.
You cannot claim to love the people while impoverishing the people.
You cannot claim patriotism while looting national wealth.
You cannot claim leadership while constantly making excuses for failure.
That is why they remain difficult to buy.
Difficult to intimidate.
Difficult to manipulate.
Difficult to silence.
Many of them have lost friendships.
Many have endured insults.
Many have been mocked.
Many have been attacked online.
Yet they remain where they have always stood.
Not because Peter Obi asked them to.
But because they believe Nigeria deserves better.
They know Peter Obi will not share money on election day.
They know he will not distribute bags of rice in exchange for votes.
They know he is unlikely to build his politics around patronage.
They know he is unlikely to spend public funds trying to purchase loyalty.
And strangely, that is precisely why many support him.
The political establishment understands something many still ignore:
Peter Obi’s greatest asset is not Peter Obi.
It is the millions of Nigerians who have become politically conscious.
The Obidient movement transformed ordinary citizens into active participants in the political process.
People who once ignored elections now study budgets.
People who once ignored governance now track public spending.
People who once accepted anything now ask difficult questions.
And that may be the movement’s greatest achievement.
Will they do Obidient again?
Many will.
Because for them, Obidient was never merely about a man.
It was about an idea.
An idea that Nigeria can work.
An idea that leadership can be decent.
An idea that integrity can still matter.
An idea that competence can triumph over mediocrity.
An idea that a better nation is still possible.
And ideas are far more difficult to defeat than politicians.
NOW:
The real Obidients have never claimed that Peter Obi is perfect. (Some may, but they can be forgiven)
No serious supporter of his believes he is.
He is human. He can make mistakes.
He has limitations like every other human being.
But when it comes to integrity, personal conduct, public accountability, prudence in government, and the management of public resources, many Nigerians believe he stands head, shoulders and full body above the political establishment.
For years, every evil allegation imaginable has been thrown at him.
Every document has been scrutinised.
Every transaction has been examined.
Every speech has been dissected.
Every association has been investigated.
Yet, despite the enormous political incentives to destroy his credibility, no one has produced credible evidence that Peter Obi stole public funds, diverted state resources, or enriched himself through public office.
Even those who disagree with him politically often struggle to point to a single verified case of personal enrichment from public funds.
Think about that.
In a country where corruption allegations follow politicians like shadows, Peter Obi remains a puzzle to his critics.
Many have searched.
Many have accused.
Many have speculated.
But accusation is not evidence.
Rumour is not proof.
Propaganda is not fact.
Peter Obi has repeatedly maintained that if anyone can produce credible evidence that he stole public funds, misappropriated government resources, or engaged in corruption while in office, he would gladly leave politics.
Years have passed.
Governments have changed.
Investigations have come and gone.
Political opponents have risen and fallen.
Yet no one has presented that smoking gun.
No kobo has been found missing.
No money has been found to have strayed to his accounts.
No one has conclusively found any evidence of him or his family enriching themselves from public funds.
No Pandora could set his aura on fire.
No Panama could hammer his integrity to shame.
His supporters see something rare in Nigerian politics:
A man whose life before politics can be examined.
A man whose time in office can be examined.
A man whose life after office can be examined.
A man whose public and private records largely tell the same story.
That does not mean he is perfect.
It simply means many Nigerians have looked at the available alternatives and reached a conclusion.
The real Obidient has done his homework.
He has compared records.
He has compared conduct.
He has compared achievements.
He has compared lifestyles.
And after making those comparisons, he arrives at the same answer.
Not because of tribe.
Not because of religion.
Not because of sentiment.
Not because of inducement.
But because of conviction.
And when the question is asked again—
“Who do you trust with the future of Nigeria?”
The real Obidient points in one direction and says:
“Having carefully examined all the evidences, reviewed all the records, considered all the alternatives, and weighed all the facts before the court of public opinion,
I find no credible evidence of corruption before, during or after leaving the office, theft of public funds, political godfatherism, or abuse of office against Peter Obi.
Accordingly, this court of human conscience and reasoned sensibilities enter judgment in his favour.
Therefore, without a dot of hesitation, any reservation whatsoever, or any iota of doubt,
I hereby declare:
HE IS THE ONE.
So ordered!” ⚖️
FOR THE ANTI-OBIDIENTS
The people most likely to dislike this post are not necessarily those who have carefully examined Peter Obi’s record and arrived at a different conclusion.
Rather, they are those whose views are shaped by tribal sentiment, political prejudice, or long-held biases.
In fact, for lack of genuine reasons, some would say they don’t want Peter Obi as president because of the kind of people in the Obidient Movement.
Ask them for verifiable evidence, and you will often get rumours.
Present them with documented facts, and they will explain them away.
Show them records, and they will question the records.
Show them outcomes, and they will change the subject.
Their problem is not a lack of information; it is an unwillingness to accept information that contradicts what they have already chosen to believe.
When a narrative becomes an article of faith, evidence becomes an inconvenience.
Even if the Obidients are inconveniently irritating you, do know that Peter Obi has no power over the Obidients. They adopted him, they chose him, he did not build them.
Some of us may be aggressive or corrosive, it is probably because they are coming from the place of pain, and they are very angry at what the country’s politicians have done to them.
Don’t use that reason to settle for less.
It is the person - Peter Obi, that you should do what you can for.
