Captain Ibrahim Traoré Receives the Somali Minister of Security

Ouagadougou, May 6, 2026. The President of Burkina Faso, Head of State, His Excellency Captain Ibrahim Traoré, received in audience this Wednesday the Minister of Internal Security of the Federal Republic of Somalia, General Abdullahi Sheikh Ismail.

General Abdullahi Sheikh Ismail indicated that he was carrying a message from the President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, His Excellency Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, to his Burkinabè counterpart, His Excellency Captain Ibrahim Traoré, President of Burkina Faso, Head of State.

Accompanied by his Burkinabè counterpart, the Somali Minister of Internal Security explained that his visit to Burkina Faso reflects his country's desire to strengthen international partnerships, particularly cooperation in security and the fight against terrorism.

For him, Burkina Faso and the Federal Republic of Somalia face the same challenge: the phenomenon of terrorism. This requires placing particular emphasis on counter-terrorism efforts, training, intelligence sharing, and strengthening collaboration between security agencies.

🌿🇧🇫 BURKINA FASO LAUNCHES MAJOR URBAN DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

Ouagadougou, May 4, 2026, Burkina Faso has officially launched an ambitious nationwide program to transform its urban spaces and improve living conditions.

The initiative was unveiled by Minister of State, Major Ismaël Sombié, who leads the Ministry of Agriculture, Water, Animal and Fisheries Resources.

Facing rapid urban growth and climate challenges, the program aims to reshape cities into greener, more sustainable, and more livable environments.

🌱 Key highlights:

✅ 80 green spaces to be developed nationwide
✅ 60 roundabouts to be landscaped
✅ 65 km of tree-lined roads
✅ 10 km of new avenues

Major cities involved include Ouagadougou, Bobo-Dioulasso, Koudougou, Banfora, Gaoua, Tenkodogo, Ouahigouya, and Dédougou.

🌳 The program also includes:

Expansion of Bangr-Weogo Urban Park
Transformation of the Kua Forest in Bobo-Dioulasso into an urban park
Creation of a new urban ecological garden in Ouagadougou

Authorities say the initiative will boost environmental sustainability, urban aesthetics, and quality of life, while promoting eco-citizenship across the country.
