When crop-destroying insects known as “soldiers” invaded Bujumbura, Burundi, they struck fear into the hearts of residents — 95% of whom rely on subsistence farming.

Perfect Village Communities "P.V.C "Burundi, a 2023 United Nations Development Programme - UNDP finalist, took a different approach. This Indigenous organization, which champions biodiversity as a tool to fight hunger and poverty, is reviving traditional farming practices and promoting better health through natural bio-insect-control methods.
