The Embassy of the Republic of Haiti in the commonwealth of the Bahamas Receives a Delegation from the Church of God of Prophecy.
Nassau, Friday, March 12, 2026 – The Embassy of Haiti in the Commonwealth of The Bahamas had the honor of receiving, at the Diplomatic Mission, an important delegation from the Church of God of Prophecy.
The delegation was composed of Bishop Shelton Beneby, National Bishop for Eastern Canada; Bishop Anglade Destra,Bishop coordinator for Francophone Canada and his wife; Bishop Édouard Jean-Pierre, District Bishop for Quebec , accompanied by his wife; as well as Pastor Charles Tranchant, Assistant Pastor of the Church of God of Prophecy of Montréal-Nord and his wife
The delegation was warmly welcomed by His Excellency Ambassador Dern Jovens Bonhomme, who expressed appreciation for their fraternal visit and for the spiritual and human ties that unite the Haitian and Bahamian communities through faith.
During this meeting, marked by cordiality and gratitude, Ambassador Bonhomme highlighted the remarkable role played by Bishop Shelton Beneby in the lives of many Haitians living in The Bahamas, particularly during the 2000s. At that time, Bishop Beneby was one of the first Bahamian pastors to open the doors of his church to welcome Haitian worshippers, allowing them to worship and pray together in a spirit of fraternity, free from prejudice or discrimination.
His commitment to the Haitian community extended beyond the spiritual realm. Bishop Beneby also provided valuable support to several members of the Haitian diaspora in their efforts to regularize their status in The Bahamas, demonstrating a profound sense of solidarity and humanity.
The Embassy of Haiti in The Bahamas expressed its gratitude and appreciation to this religious delegation for its ongoing commitment to fostering closer ties between peoples and for the support offered to the Haitian community.
This visit served as an opportunity to further strengthen cooperation and fraternal relations between religious leaders and the Haitian diplomatic mission in The Bahamas.
