The Druk Wangyel Tshechu, a modern festival with deep spiritual and national significance, takes place annually on December 13th at the scenic Dochula Pass. This festival stands apart for its unique set of mask dances that aren’t performed anywhere else in Bhutan. Among these are the Dance of Gadpo Ganmo (the dance of elderly men and women), Milarepa and the Rock Demons, Dance of the Guardian Deities, and Dance of the Heroes, which pays tribute to the courage and sacrifice of the Royal Bhutan Army.

The Punakha Dzong stands as one of Bhutan’s most striking and picturesque fortresses. With its whitewashed stone walls, elegant traditional architecture, and rich historical legacy, it never fails to captivate and become a favourite among visitors.
