Assistant Minister -Hon.Ignatius Moswaane
The Ministry is responsible for overseeing local governance, community development, and traditional leadership structures across the country. It supervises district and urban councils that provide essential public services such as sanitation, primary education, infrastructure development, and social welfare programs. The ministry also works with tribal administrations, district commissioners, and land boards to strengthen local administration, preserve cultural traditions, and improve service delivery at community level. The Ministry delivers its mandate through 8 Departments, 31 Local Authorities and 35 Tribal Administration offices across Botswana.
