This yearโs Tshane Farmers Show was more than just a celebration of agriculture, culture, and community spirit โ it was also an opportunity to put health at the centre of the conversation. HPH was proud to be among the stalls, making sure that everyone had access to vital health screenings and education right where they gathered.
Events like the Farmers Show are the perfect platform to reach people in a relaxed and engaging environment. They bring together hundreds of community members โ families, farmers, youth, and elders, creating the perfect opportunity to share important health information, offer screenings, and answer questions people may not have the chance to ask in a clinic setting.
Many health conditions, such as high blood pressure, diabetes, TB, HIV, and some cancers, show little or no symptoms in their early stages. Without regular screening, these conditions can go unnoticed until they become more serious. By offering free and accessible testing during community events, we help identify issues early, connect people to care, and ultimately save lives.
Knowledge is one of the strongest tools for preventing illness. Our health education talks gave attendees the chance to learn about mental health, oral hygiene, TB prevention, sexual and reproductive health, and the importance of healthy lifestyle choices. When people are empowered with the right information, they can make better decisions for themselves and their families.
At the Healthcare stall, our team worked hand in hand to provide a wide range of services:
โข HTS (HIV Testing Services) โ Confidential testing and counselling.
โข YFS (Youth Friendly Services) โ Guidance tailored to the needs of young people.
โข Psychiatry nurses โ Mental health awareness and support.
โข Health promotions team โ Wellness advice and prevention tips.
โข TB coordinator โ TB screening and education.
โข See and Treat nurse โ Cervical cancer screening and prevention.
โข Dental unit team โ Oral health checks and hygiene advice.
โข EMS โ Providing out of hospital emergency medical care.
The turnout and enthusiasm from the community reminded us why these outreach activities are so important. Health is not just about hospitals and clinics โ itโs about meeting people where they are, building trust, and creating a culture of prevention and care.
HPH extends heartfelt thanks to the Tshane Farmers Show organisers, the community of Tshane, and everyone who visited our stall. Together, we are building a healthier future โ one conversation, one screening, and one smile at a time.
