5 vehicles involved in Boxing Day crash in Calgary; at least 4 hospitalized
A serious multi-vehicle collision occurred on Boxing Day in Calgary, involving five vehicles at the intersection of Macleod Trail and Southland Drive. At least four individuals were hospitalized, with one in: life-threatening condition. The incident led to significant traffic disruptions in the area. Alberta getting Rid of photo radar.
Come April 1, 2025, Alberta is ending photo radar ticketing on all numbered provincial highways. The province also plans over the coming months to review “cash cows” – photo radar spots that appear to prioritize money-making over safety — with the goal of shutting down 70 per cent of the current 2,200 sites.
