The next week or so I will be sharing I hold near and dear.
This was our crew that tackled fischer peak, the highest peak in the southern rocky range!
It was a g.r.i.n.d and the tallest mountain I've climbed to date at 1292 m of gains.

Spring is in the air ANNDDD It's time to brush up on that animal safety before we get out into our wonderful backyard.
Take time to find your regions resources for animal safety and get yourself set up for success on the trail, or be eaten....
Just kidding on the eaten part and if you do your research and learn the fundamentals, you'll learn that animals generally want nothing to do with us just as we want nothing to do with them.

There are significant factors that will increase the likelihood of a negative interaction and it doesn't stem from a hungry bear just waking up with human on their mind and menu.
It's natural instincts to protect their young, defend their food, being sickly and desperate, or reacting to being snuck up on (I could delve deeper but will keep that for our spring series).
So if you're going to put your hiking boots on and tackle our amazing trails, do the due-diligence to reduce yours and the animals risk so we can all play together.
Also - bear spray. Get it. Know how to use it. Reduce your risk by 90 (some)%. SERIOUSLY WORTH THE INVESTMENT.

Reminiscing HARD today on all the epic humans I've gone on adventures with.

I'm going to be hosting a series within a few hour radius of Kootenay National Park & Canmore, AB this summer.

Women Who Wander started as a need. After founder Kayla Kay went through a hard pivotal time after moving to the Columbia Valley, she discovered hiking and seeking the peaks brought her solace and it was on the mountain tops that she found herself once more. Her mission was clear-- to foster a community and help other women empower themselves to step out on the trail and conquer their own summit.
