Update – July 2, 2024 💧
We've started flowing water from the Bearspaw Water Treatment Plant and are confident the system is ready for regular indoor water usage. Stage 4 outdoor restrictions and the fire ban remain in place.
🏊 The City of Calgary recreational program updates:
✅Arenas will be open at 4 p.m. today.
✅Showers are open today.
✅Most indoor pools (main pools and dive tanks) will open on July 3
✅Swimming lessons will resume on July 3. All customers will be receiving an email from The City with confirmation.
🚰 Water use
If you notice cloudy water from your tap, please rest assured that this is an aesthetic issue only. Our drinking water is safe to consume. Contact 311 if you have any questions.
More information on easing outdoor water restrictions will be shared in the coming days as we determine how the system responds to the increased demands. Thank you for continuing conserving water for our community.
➡️ BYLAW AND ENFORCEMENT
▪️ We continue to follow up on calls to 311 for water misuse and have received 3,003 calls and issued 19 violation tickets.
➡️ FIRE BAN
▪️ A fire ban remains in effect for the city of Calgary. We’ve received a total of 275 fire pit calls. There have been 36 written warnings, 114 verbal warnings and we have issued six violation tickets.
➡️ ROADS AND MOBILITY
▪️ 16 Avenue N.W. is open to traffic in both directions; however, speed is reduced because some paving work is still required. Calgarians can expect delays when travelling through the area and to pay attention to signage.

As work to restore water service continues, we recognize there is still uncertainty around service disruptions and we want to keep you informed.
While we can’t provide a definite timeline for reopening, we remain optimistic and hope to resume full programming soon. Rest assured, we will not cancel registered programs or bookings unless absolutely necessary.
Effective Friday, June 28:
🏊♀️ Aquatic programming, like swimming lessons and drop-in activities, will NOT start on July 2. Please do not attend. We will provide an update on the start date on Tuesday, July 2 through email.
⛸️ Ice and water bookings on July 2 are cancelled.
🌞 Day camps will proceed as planned. Swimming activities at day camps will be replaced with other fun activities to keep campers active, entertained, and smiling until we restore water service.
