Today, I was honoured to join our Pakistani Canadian community in celebrating Pakistan’s 79th Independence Day in Calgary.

The flag-raising was a powerful reminder of the sacrifices made for freedom and the strength found in diversity. It was inspiring to see so many residents come together to share in the pride of heritage, culture, and community spirit.

Thank you to the Pakistani Canadian Cultural Institute, organizers, and everyone who welcomed me so warmly. I am proud to stand with you in celebrating both Pakistan and Canada, and we long live our shared values of peace, respect, and opportunity.

A Century of Stories!

Today, i had the great honour of celebrating Jack Rorke’s 100th birthday at Shouldice Commons. Jack is not only a proud resident of Ward 7 but also a shining example of resilience, wisdom, and community spirit.

Reaching 100 is no small feat, and Jack’s remarkable life journey continues to inspire everyone around him. Thank you to the staff, family, and neighbours who made this milestone so special.

Here’s to Jack — a true Calgary gem! 🥂

What a morning!

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us at the Ward 7 Pancake Breakfast in partnership with Contemporary Calgary and Cowboys Music Festival!

From hot stacks courtesy of the Stampede Batter Boys, to live tunes by Melody Stang, toe-tapping line dancing with Outlaw Dance, and hands-on art activities. You brought the Stampede spirit to life in the heart of downtown.

And for those who explored Kenneth Tam: Silent Spikes, we hope the exhibition left you inspired.

Stampede is about community, connection, and celebrating the creative energy that makes Calgary shine — and today was all that and more.

Until next time " Yahoo! "🤠

On Saturday, I had the privilege of joining the Seniors' Expo hosted by Unison. I spoke with many seniors who shared not just their challenges, but also their hopes — for affordable housing, better mobility, safer communities, and the dignity they deserve as valued members of our city.

Their voices are a powerful reminder of why I do this work. Supporting our seniors isn’t just a policy point. It’s a commitment I take personally. This is the focus I am pushing forward because a city that doesn’t care for its seniors is a city that’s losing its soul.

It’s a long journey, and the work is far from finished. I hope to earn the opportunity to continue this work and build a Calgary that leaves no one behind.
