What a weekend for Calgary. 🏃♀️🏃♂️💙
To every person who ran, walked, volunteered, fundraised, or cheered from the sidelines at the Servus Calgary Marathon - congratulations!! What an incredible show of community spirit.
This year’s event raised more than $700,000 for over 100 charities across Calgary. That support will make a real difference for organizations working every day to care for our community.
To everyone who chose Calgary Meals on Wheels as their charity this year - thank you! Your support helps ensure vulnerable Calgarians can access nutritious meals, connection, and care when they need it most.
We’re proud to be part of a city that continues to show up for one another. 💙

“Our students rush to get a bowl of delicious hot soup.”
At one Calgary school, Tuesdays and Thursdays mean something special - hot soup day.
For many students, especially newcomers and refugees, that warm bowl of soup is something they look forward to all week. It brings comfort, nourishment, and a sense of community.
Meals like these help students focus on learning, growing, and feeling supported.

As Calgary starts to bloom, so does our gratitude.🌼
In April, volunteers helped deliver nourishment and connection across the city - rain or shine (or snow!). Thanks to them, clients felt supported, seen, and part of a caring community.
Looking for a way to give back this spring? Volunteering with Calgary Meals on Wheels is flexible, meaningful, and full of heart.

For 60 years, Calgary Meals on Wheels has been ensuring vulnerable Calgarians have access to nutritious meals and compassionate support. During Leave a Legacy Month, we’re reflecting on the lasting impact community members can make through planned giving.
Legacy gifts help make that future possible for the next generation of clients who will need us. No matter the size, a gift in your will can help provide meals, dignity, and care long into the future.
Because leaving a legacy is about more than what we leave behind - it’s about the lives we continue to touch.

For someone with celiac disease, a meal isn’t just about nutrition - it’s about trust. 💛
Celiac disease affects about 1% of Canadians, yet many people remain undiagnosed. Even small amounts of gluten can trigger serious health issues, from digestive pain and fatigue to headaches, anemia, and skin rashes.
That’s why food safety matters so much at Calgary Meals on Wheels.
From separate ingredient storage and dedicated preparation processes to clear meal labelling, our team follows strict best practices to help minimize the risk of cross contamination and provide safe, reliable gluten-free meals our clients can count on.

This Mother’s Day, we’re honouring the women who have shared care, kindness, and community across generations. ❤️
For nearly 50 years, Anne Pawelek volunteered with Calgary Meals on Wheels, delivering more than meals to her neighbours. She delivered friendship, comfort, and connection.
Her compassion inspired her daughters, Mary-Jane and Joanne, who have now spent more than two decades volunteering as meal delivery drivers themselves. Anne’s legacy will continue through her grandson, Mitchell, who became a chef inspired by his grandmother’s belief that food brings people together.
Today, we celebrate Anne and all the mothers, daughters, and families who make our community stronger through acts of care - one meal, one visit, and one connection at a time.
Happy Mother’s Day from all of us at Calgary Meals on Wheels. 💐
