Bow Valley College is a place where international students can soar, graduating with a work-ready education in one or two years in the vital fields of business, health care, justice, human services, and administration.

Are you a spouse of a Filipino International student with open work permit? You're invited to participate in the First Filipino Temporary Foreign Worker Assembly on Saturday September 24.

This is in partnership with the Philippine Consulate General in Calgary, Philippine Overseas Labor Office- Vancouver and Overseas workers Welfare- Vancouver.

The event will commence with the following information sessions about:

1. Rights and Responsibilities
2. Consular, Labor, Welfare Services
3. TFW Community Support
4. Free Legal Clinic

The Bow Valley College “Women Pivoting in Tech Entrance Bursary” is open to all women-identifying students and will help fill in-demand tech jobs in fields such as cybersecurity, cloud computing, information technology services, and software development. The bursary can help cover tuition, childcare costs, and other basic expenses, allowing them to better cope with student life without worrying about financial pressures.

The deadline is August 12.

The Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) was renamed to the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP). Two new streams were also launched – the Rural Renewal Stream and the Rural Entrepreneur Stream. Check more here:

Alberta Advantage Immigration Program Eligible individuals can apply to be nominated to work and live in Alberta permanently.

We concluded with Bow Valley College "Diversibility: International Development" campus podcast exploring topics in sustainability, cultural diversity and international development. Tahira Ebrahim, Manager Global Engagement, joined Diversibility hosts Amy Spark, Sustainability Coordinator and Justin Hardjowirogo, Intercultural Centre Engagement Officer for a conversation about international development. This podcast discussion addressed questions such as: What is development? How can we amplify marginalized voices that are impacted in this work? How can our own identities and realities shape development work as a personal priority?

Today Bow Valley College had an amazing "Indigenous Realities in Response to Development Work" session with Crystal Manyfingers who joined us for a fireside chat, discussing challenges and opportunities of Indigenous communities in Canada, seven years after the introduction of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission. Crystal Manyfingers is a Teaching and Learning Consultant for Curriculum, Indigenization, and Decolonization at Bow Valley College. She was recognized with a Faculty Award in February 2020. She is a Blackfoot (Kainaiki) woman, from the Kainani (Blood) First Nation in southern Alberta.

What a great kick off session to International Development Week we had today!! Bow Valley College would like to thank our knowledgeable and inspiring panelists Chris Enns and Susan Pereverzoff for their amazing presentations during the " Creating Global Leaders in an Interconnected World" event. Our speakers engaged the audience by discussing the value of generating a sense of leadership and global citizenship in Canadian youth, through international experiences.
