19 young Canadians are making an impact on rural Alberta health care this summer. 🙌
This Rural Health Week, we're celebrating something special.
Through the federal Canada Summer Jobs program, young Canadians are gaining hands-on health care experience in rural Alberta.
At various sites they're stepping into roles as:
🔵pharmacy aides
🔵health care aides
🔵rec therapy aides
🔵undergrad nurses
🔵maintenance staff
🔵diagnostic imaging
🔵central supply techs
They're learning what it means to provide compassionate care for our communities and building the future of rural health care in Alberta.
We're grateful to the Members of Parliament who championed this funding in their ridings:
↪ Pierre Poilievre: supporting various positions at St. Mary's Hospital and Our Lady of the Rosary Hospital.
↪ Shannon Stubbs: supporting a pharmacy position at Bonnyville Health Centre.
↪ Rachael Thomas: supporting recreation therapy positions at St. Michael's Health Centre.
↪ Michael Cooper: supporting nursing and health care aide positions at Youville Home.
Rural communities deserve strong, well-staffed health care.
Partnerships like this one between government, healthcare providers and the next generation of caregivers make it possible. 🤝

Care worth the journey⛰️
After a serious crash, one freeride athlete travelled more than 20 hours to receive world-class care at Banff Mineral Springs Hospital — a testament to the expertise and trust built within this rural site.
Because exceptional care isn’t defined by geography.

Small acts can have a big impact🧁🍪
Earlier this month, a group of youth, led by Grey Nuns volunteers Sukhmani and Vanshika, hosted the Daisy Delights and Tasty Bites Bake Sale in the Grey Nuns lobby.
With generous donations from local bakers, the sale completely sold out and raised more than $500.
Funds raised will support Volunteer Services, helping enhance the Patient Library and provide comfort for patients.
Thank you to everyone who baked, donated and supported this meaningful initiative.💛

A trip filled with memories and connection.
This week, residents, patients and family members had the opportunity to hop aboard the Medicine Hat Sunshine Trolley and tour historical sites throughout the community.
From sharing stories to taking in familiar places and new sights, the outing brought smiles and moments of connection for everyone who joined the ride.
Sometimes, meaningful care happens beyond our walls — through experiences that bring people together.

Screening can save lives.
Cervical cancer screening plays an important role in detecting changes early and supporting better health outcomes.
At the Covenant Community Health Centre, screening is helping connect people with care and making important health services more accessible within the community.
Because taking care of your health starts with having access to the right support.

We're hiring a part-time Pharmacist I at St. Mary's Hospital in Camrose.
This a rare chance to practice at the top of your license in a fully collaborative hospital setting!
You'd work alongside an amazing team to manage medication therapy, optimize patient outcomes and support a rural hospital that punches well above its weight. 🥊
