Background on the Canine Behaviour Specialist Bruce Turnbull who will be at Shakestail
Bruce Turnbull has been actively involved in breeding and training of dogs since acquiring his first show quality Weimaraner in 1982, and as a professional trainer and behaviour consultant in the central and north Simcoe County since 1993. The focus of Bruce's Canine Minds & Spirit has been the training of companion dogs and helping owners establish or restore a balanced relationship with their dogs. To this end, Bruce developed his own training method, integrating aspects of normal dog communication signals and social behaviour with reward-based methods to improve owner-dog communication. In addition to “Basic Respect and Good Manners” training, Bruce has dealt extensively with canine aggression problems, both privately and in special rehabilitation classes for aggressive dogs. He has also acted as a consultant to the OSPCA, Midland branch, conducting pre-adoption behavioural assessments. He is particularly proud of the Personal Assistance Dog he helped train. Bruce has also helped initiate and has participated in various Pet Therapy and Visitation programs, and served as the Rescue and Placement Service Coordinator for the Weimaraner Association of Canada. Bruce is a Professional Member of the Canadian Association of Professional Pet Dog Trainers and a Life Member of the Canadian Kennel Club.
