When all the books in the world have been read, and reread, there is only one solution. Travel the world and be inspired to write and share your very own story.

Meet my latest creation "The very last book". An everyday girl, who loves to read, has read so much that she has read every book she can get her hands on. Where others may give up, she sets sail to find a solution to her problem.

"From her seat on her throne
(she was on the loo),
she screamed “Don’t worry.
I know what to do!"

Today’s world needs young people to stand up and find solutions, to be inventors, to champion intelligence and ingenuity. And there is no one better to do the job than your everyday, average kid – a girl with a determination to solve her own problems.

"The very last book" is a picture book for 4 to 8 year old kids. It is a story that gives girls all over the world permission to be self-reliant and resilient, to be proud and generous, and to be kind yet self-determined.

To avoid some fairy tale ending, when faced with a dilemma, she grabs the bull by the horns and jumps right in.

This was a fun activity - a writing prompt that I found on 'The Write Prompt' by Sara Seitz.

'Write a story about a lighthouse keeper who wakes up one day to find the ocean has disappeared.'

I enjoyed this short story writing activity - please ignore my spelling on the very last word!!! It should read 'breathe'.

Great to see books that reverse the stereotype. 'I love my purse' by Belle DeMont is about Charlie. He loves the red purse given to him by his grandmother. This book is about coping with peer pressure and self-esteem. :)

7-Year-Old's Viral Letter to Old Navy: Girls Need Pockets! Kamryn Gardner recently put the persuasive writing skills she learned in her first grade class to work — by asking clothing retailer Old Navy to put pockets in their girls' pants!

As much as I don't want these boots in our cabin this weekend, I know a lot of fun, exploration and learning occurred to make this much mess. (And lots of laughter!)

My own Strong Girl moment

This afternoon I will be doing my first ever Substitute Teaching gig here in Canada. It's in a French classroom however the school teaches English, so looks like the kids will be getting an English activity with me today. Nice to be in the system, but a bit nervous about it all. I haven't taught in a primary classroom for a while.
