Get to know the Music Library’s physical collections! 📖🎼
Browsing the shelves can be a great way to find new repertoire or rediscover old favourites. 🎶 The Music Library has handy guides to the score collection, posted on the stairwell opposite the Service desk as well as along the stacks on the 3rd floor. For more information about finding books and scores by call number area, see this guide: https://mcgill.ca/x/5Sz.
On the 4th floor, the Music Library has a large collection of both catalogued and uncatalogued LPs: the catalogued LPs are filed by accession number, while the uncatalogued LPs are organized on the shelf by record label and number. There are listening carrels next to the LP stacks, so you can listen to the record right away! 🎶
If you can’t find what you’re looking for, stop by the Service desk on the 3rd floor during service hours and ask a staff member for assistance.
Happy browsing!✨
