Today, we remember. On Yom HaZikaron, we honour the soldiers of Israel who gave their lives in service, and the victims of terror whose lives were taken too soon. We pause to reflect on their sacrifice, their courage, and the families who carry their memory every day.

À l’occasion du Yom HaZikaron, nous rendons hommage aux soldats israéliens qui ont donné leur vie au service de leur pays, ainsi qu’aux victimes du terrorisme dont la vie a été fauchée trop tôt. In this striking collection, Iossel, born in Leningrad and now a celebrated writer and professor, offers vivid, fragmentary glimpses into life under Soviet rule and beyond. At once sharp, humorous, and deeply poignant, Sentences captures the absurdities of daily existence, the weight of history, and the flashes of humanity that shine through even in difficult times.

As part of our Authors from Home series, join us on April 16th at 7 PM for a conversation with photographer Edward Hillel, who will present his latest photobook, Holding the Main.

For his current publication “Holding the Main”, Hillel returned to his Montreal hometown to re-imagine his classic 1987 first book “The Main: Portrait of a Neighborhood”. Exploring themes of belonging, identity and memory, he wonders: in a world of constant movement, what becomes of people and places? Can we ever truly go home again?
