Let her know that you are interested on becoming a potential donor for Giovanni Paolo Bautista. I was 23 when both my kidneys started failing, we don’t know what caused it. Since then I’ve been followed up with my nephrologist at St. Mary’s Hospital in Montreal. We tried everything to slowdown the progressing damage but until September last year (2011) my kidneys function decreased to about 8% and
need to be on dialysis. I knew from day one that I will probably need a transplant and be on dialysis so I prepared myself for this. I never realize that it is nothing like what I thought it would be. It takes a lot of toughness and courage... It nearly took the best of me but my family and friends pulled me up, they gave me inspiration to keep moving forward in this stormy journey. Since I was diagnosed with “Chronic Kidney Disease” my life seemed has come to a stop. Everything changed drastically and I don’t know how to face it. I was an artist musician and hated hospitals. The things I love to do has been put on hold due to lack of energy and frequent trips to hospital and just being sick all the time. When I was healthier, I had a colourful life. I played in a band, I enjoy going out with friends, going to concerts, camping and all other sort of adventures but all those has been replaced with visit to doctors, blood work, biopsy, ultrasound, ct scan, counseling and much-much more tests. For now, I had to stop school and work because of all this but I am very optimistic that I will be going back as soon as my body can take it. There was several friends who unselfishly offered to give me a kidney, unfortunately they were not a good candidate. I don’t have much family here in Montreal so it makes it very difficult to find a living kidney donor. I have been on the kidney transplant waiting list since February 2012, this type of donation can only come from a deceased donor. The reason I am looking for a living donor is because the kidney of a living donor will have greater success. A potential living kidney donor must be healthy, with no history of diabetes, most types of cancer, high blood pressure, heart disease and hepatitis. The donation of a kidney must be a voluntary act. The potential living donor must be over 18 years old. I have an AB blood type there the kidney donor must have A, B, O and AB blood type.
