Supporting Veterans well takes a community.

On October 3, our co-founders Tina Wilston and Michelle Massunken joined Veterans, healthcare providers and community partners at the Veterans Community BBQ in Kanata.

Afternoons like this help providers get to know one another beyond a referral form, and that makes it easier for people to find the right support.

Thank you to BrainStim Health and Apollo for bringing everyone together.

Supporting serving members, Veterans and their families is an important part of our work at MindSpa. Learn more through the link in our bio.

Our relationships shape how we feel day to day. When they’re under strain, it often shows up everywhere else too.

Meet Rose Clark, Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) at MindSpa Kanata.

Rose works with couples, families and individual adults who want closer, steadier relationships, both with the people they love and with themselves. Her areas of focus include:

Couples and family relationships
Parenting, boundaries and self-esteem
Life transitions, anxiety and stress

“My goal is to walk alongside you and support you to discover new ways of moving through life with more clarity, balance, and self-acceptance.”

Rose is now accepting new clients, in person in Kanata or virtually across Ontario.

Having an honest conversation. Setting a boundary. Asking for support. Making a change without knowing exactly how things will unfold.

Each of these moments invites us to move beyond what feels familiar and toward what matters to us.

Discomfort can be part of personal growth. It can create space for reflection, greater self-awareness, and a deeper understanding of our needs and values.

Growth also means honouring our limits, allowing ourselves time, and recognizing when support would be helpful.

We can move toward meaningful change at our own pace, with curiosity, patience, and compassion for ourselves along the way.

Some weeks don't wait for a tidy calendar.

If something feels hard to carry alone (stress, anxiety, conflict, or a sudden change), MindSpa offers same-day therapy appointments when clinician availability allows, in Kanata, Gloucester, or online across Ontario.

One session won't solve everything. It can give you space to talk through what's happening now and consider a next step.

Today is World Mental Health Day, and the final day of Mental Illness Awareness Week.

As co-founders of MindSpa, we believe these moments of awareness matter. What matters just as much is what happens beyond them.

The conversations that are difficult to begin. The experiences people carry that others may not see. The courage it can take to ask for support, especially when finding the right words isn’t easy.

Mental illness is not always visible, and everyone’s experience with mental health is different.

Over the years, one thing has remained important to both of us: creating a space where people feel heard, respected, and understood, without judgment.

We’re grateful for the dedicated professionals who make up our team, the people who trust us with their care, and everyone working to make conversations about mental health more open and compassionate.

As this awareness week comes to a close, we hope the conversations continue.

You don’t need to be “good at art” for this. 🎨

There’s no right way to make art here. No technique to master, no finished piece to judge. You share only what feels comfortable, at your own pace.

Second Spring is facilitated by Elena Kourounis Elena Kourounis, Art Therapist.

Perimenopause and menopause affect many women during their peak working years, yet the emotional side of this transition is rarely talked about openly. Changes in energy, identity, relationships and roles can show up at work and at home, often all at once.

This fall, MindSpa Mental Health Centre is offering Second Spring, an 8-session, in-person art therapy group for women navigating perimenopause and menopause.

Through drawing, painting, collage and guided conversation, participants explore:

Changing identities and roles
Loss and renewal
Body awareness
Self-compassion
Meaning and purpose in this stage of life

No art experience is needed. The focus is on the process, not the result, and participants share only what feels comfortable.
