After further reflection and discussions with community members, I have decided to resign as the Ontario NDP candidate for the upcoming election. It has become clear that my past comments are distracting from the critical task of defeating Doug Ford and electing an Ontario NDP government.

In March 2024, I was honoured to present to the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women! As part of an exercise that was intended to unpack our biases, I made a comment that I understand was harmful. I apologize unequivocally for that remark and any harm it has caused. As a professor of Sociology and Women’s Studies I have made it my entire life’s work to amplify the voices of marginalized communities.

My goal is to use my education and voice to challenge the systemic inequalities that hold our society back. I look forward to working on behalf of Elgin-Middlesex-London at Queen’s Park to continue building pathways toward equity, equality and justice for all.

We couldn’t let a little snow stop us!!

We wanted to reach out before Monday’s election debate — because this is a big moment for our movement.

I don’t have to tell you what you already know: the NDP is ready.

There’s a clear contrast in this election. Ford’s government has spent seven years slashing healthcare, underfunding our schools, and handing out backroom deals to his wealthy insiders.

Marit is fighting for something different. She’s standing up for workers, for public education, for real action on affordability — for people like you.

Monday’s debate is about showing Ontarians there’s a real choice in this election. With so much on the line, we need your help to make sure Marit’s message reaches every voter in the key ridings that will decide this election.

Will you chip in $155 before Monday’s debate to help us take on Ford? Every dollar with be doubled until Midnight, thanks to a generous group of supporters.

We know what we’re going to get with Ford; a plethora of excuses and attempts to dodge accountability. It’s time for a Premier with integrity — and a government that is on your side.

Marit is stepping up. Let’s stand with her.

As your Ontario NDP Candidate, I am honored to represent Elgin Middlesex, London and fight for the issues that matter most to our community.

Now, we have the chance to build on that work and send a representative to Queen’s Park to join Marit Stiles and our team of New Democrats.

This election is critical.

We’re up against Doug Ford’s well-funded Conservatives, who continue to prioritize their friends and insiders over the people of Ontario. But I know we can win.

Why?

Because I’ve seen the energy and passion of people in our community who stand up for fairness, affordability, and opportunity for everyone.

Now, we need your help to power this campaign to victory.

Your donation will help us reach voters, spread our message, and ensure I can succeed.

Chip in $25 | Chip in $50 | Chip in $100T

This is our chance to make history in Elgin Middlesex, London. Let’s turn this riding orange and show Ontario that real change is possible.

Thank you for standing with us,

Amanda Zavitz.

We need to get the word out. The PC's and Liberals have a much higher campaign budget than me. Please share and try to get your friends to share!!

We need to defend every single job and be ready to fight back. We need to invest in workers, buy Ontario and help our industries find new markets, so we aren’t so vulnerable in the future.
