Last week at our 2025 AGM and Volunteer Banquet, we got to officially introduce our 2026 Nadine Pendleton Educational Bursary Fund recipients to our community. 🎓✨

Watching our seniors personally hand out each bursary to the recipients was something we won’t forget anytime soon.

Thank you to our Selection Committee, Pam Lockett, Oneda Harripersaud, Ann Silver, Paul Brace, and Nazneen Allidina for making this possible.

Applications open again next year and we’d love to see even more of our community apply!

If you’d like to support the fund, donations to the Nadine Pendleton Educational Bursary are always welcome and go directly toward creating opportunities like this for West Scarborough youth. Visit wsncc.org to donate today! 💫

At our Annual General Meeting and Volunteer Banquet last week, we were proud to present the 2025 Beacon Award to Donovan Minott. ❤️

The Beacon Award is our annual recognition for an outstanding volunteer or staff member who lights the way for others and demonstrates a profound dedication to this community. This year, there was no question about who deserved it.

For years, Donovan has served as our Toronto Youth Job Corps Coordinator, guiding and supporting countless youth in West Scarborough along the way. As he prepares to retire this year, many of the youth he’s walked alongside through TYJC have gone on to join our team at WSNCC. Some are still here today. That’s the kind of legacy that speaks for itself.

Donovan, thank you for everything you’ve done for West Scarborough. 💚

Happy National Indigenous Peoples Day! 🪶❤️

Today marks the 30th anniversary of National Indigenous Peoples Day and we’re joining communities across Canada in celebrating the rich cultures, traditions, and contributions of Indigenous peoples.

The summer solstice has long held deep spiritual and cultural significance for many Indigenous communities, making June 21 a meaningful and beautiful day to come together in celebration and reflection. West Scarborough, take some time today to learn, celebrate, and show up for reconciliation. 🧡

Wednesday night we held our 2025 Annual General Meeting and Volunteer Banquet and what a night it was! ⚽❤️

This year’s soccer-themed evening was dedicated to celebrating the incredible volunteers who make WSNCC what it is. We welcomed back old Club alumni, formally announced our 2026 Nadine Pendleton Educational Bursary Fund recipients, and presented our Beacon Award to longtime WSNCC staff member Donovan Minott.

Nights like this remind us just how special West Scarborough really is. Thank you to our team for putting it all together, to OAK PARK DELI & EAST YORK DELI for catering the evening, to Seal Swimming: Toronto's Swim School for donating a basket, and to Councillor Parthi Kandavel for makingParthi Kandavel 💚

June is National Indigenous History Month and we’re taking the time to honour and celebrate the cultures, traditions, and experiences of Indigenous peoples across Canada. For us, that starts with listening, learning, and reflecting together as a community. 🪶

At WSNCC and BGC West Scarborough, we are committed to reconciliation and to creating spaces where every community member feels seen and valued. We encourage our community to take this month as an opportunity to do the same. 🧡
