Last week our kids got 10 seconds to draw a house, then 3 minutes to draw one. Same task, very different results! We used it to talk about what it means to bring our best to God, not something rushed or half-finished, and connected it to the story of Cain and Abel. We also talked honestly about anger, and how even when we mess up, God’s love for us never runs out.

🍪 Last week we wrapped up our summer program with a tea party!

We journeyed through the story of Samuel using a broken telephone game, helping our kids understand just how important it is to listen carefully to God’s voice. 👂

They also got to bake their own cookies and dessert, carefully following each instruction step by step, a sweet reminder that we should always come back to Scripture when we’re unsure which way to go. 📖✨

So proud of our kids this summer! 💛

🎬 We found God at the movies
CPF Kids Movie Day

We turned our room into a movie theatre on Sunday, and everything in it was carrying something.
The ticket was free because grace is. The popcorn only opens under heat, which is a fair description of both a new grade and a growing faith. The candy came in every colour because so will their class this year. The 3D glasses were there to remind them that asking God to change your eyes works better than asking Him to change the kid who annoys you.
Then we watched two stories about the exact same thing: the person you’d write off is usually the one who matters most. A man in a ditch got rescued by his supposed enemy. A ship got saved by the two crewmates everybody thought were useless.
We prayed over the school year before they left. New teachers, new friends, being brave.
One week of summer left. Go make it count, friends. 🍿

🎟️ The ticket
Every kid got one at the door. Free. Nobody earned it.
That’s grace. You don’t buy your way into God’s family. Someone already paid.

🍿 The popcorn
A kernel is hard and closed. Heat is what opens it.
Learning is hard. Growing is hard. God uses all of it to open us up.

🍬 The candy
Different colours. Same maker. All sweet inside.
A classroom full of kids who aren’t like you isn’t a problem. It’s the design.

🎥 What we watched
Two stories from Are You My Neighbor. A man in a ditch, helped by the last person anyone expected. A spaceship crew who only made it home because they let the two “useless” guys help.

🕶️ The 3D glasses
Glasses change what you see, not what’s there.
The kid who bugs you is already loved by God. Ask Him to change your eyes.

Last Sunday our CPF Kids looked back at all the “I am” statements we’ve learned this summer. Bread, light, gate, shepherd, way, vine. Jesus takes care of us in so many ways.
Then we got to the biggest one of all. Jesus said, “I am the resurrection and the life.”
We heard about His friend Lazarus, who died. Jesus looked at Martha and asked her, “Do you believe this?” Then He called Lazarus out of the grave and he walked out alive.
At the tie-dye station the kids scrunched up plain white cloth and covered it up. It looked crumpled and messy. We waited. Then we opened it and colour was everywhere. Plain became beautiful. Jesus makes dead things alive.
Same question Jesus asked Martha, we asked our kids today. Do you believe this?

Happy Summer! Last week our kids had fun in the sun with our water play day! We learned that Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. We had water relays, the kids threw water balloons at Ms Mandy and Ms Ruth whenever they told a lie about Jesus, and played with giant bubbles!

See you this Sunday where we learn more about Jesus!

“I AM the true vine”

Our kids learned this truth with a hands-on lesson where we made scientific observations about grape vines! We learned that when grapes are far away from the vine, they begin to turn sour or wrinkly but when attached, grapes can stay healthy! In the same way, when we are close to Jesus who is the True Vine, we are able to grow closer to Him.

We ended off our lesson by making grape shaved ice 🍧 🍇🍧

Last Sunday, our kids learned about the next “I AM”…the Good Shepard! Our little sheep went on an outdoor picnic where they learned who the Good Shepard is and what it means to follow Him. We ended the lesson off by making cotton candy sheep as a yummy reminder!

Jesus said “I am the gate” — and in Bible times, that meant the shepherd laid his own body across the opening of the sheep pen at night. Nothing could get to the sheep without going through him first.

Last Sunday at CPF Kids we built Lego sheep pens, placed our sheep inside, and talked about what it means that Jesus puts himself between us and everything that wants to harm us.

Safe on the inside. Good things waiting.

That’s the gate. That’s Jesus. 🐑

This past Sunday, our CPF Kids continued our “Jesus Said, ‘I Am’” series by learning about Jesus’ declaration, “I am the Light of the World”. Through an interactive, colourful flashlight craft, the children discovered that just as light helps us see in the dark, Jesus guides us and shows us the way to live. We wrapped up by learning that we can confidently follow Jesus and share His light with others.

Week 1: “I AM the Bread of Life”

Last Sunday we began our summer program learning about Jesus’ “I AM” statements. Our first lesson was “I am the Bread of Life” from John 6:35.
The children started by making dough together, then spent time in worship, Bible learning, verse memorization, and a short lesson video. They also added to our I AM poster and finished the morning by baking bread.
Through this hands-on lesson, the kids learned that just like bread gives our bodies what we need, Jesus gives our hearts what we truly need.

Memory Verse:
“I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry.” - John 6:35

We are so thankful for this sweet time of learning, worship, and making memories together.
