"Where does one look when staring out into a vacuum? Warped upward through atmosphere and separated from time: idle thought, rumination, dissociation - subdivided, our forms float connected by strange portals. Absent gaze made exempt from the laws of physics, we look through familiar obstructions as if they are windows. The pattern of the mesh in the screen door washes in and out like breath. Distended attention crawls out of body centering vantage points on their own projections. Idle and idling, mechanical, the machine of passive perception flattens geometry through the frustrum of vision, as surroundings sit front and center, all peripherals culled from existence. We linger in immaterial ambience. But it cannot last, homeostasis strains under the added bandwidth and heaves. Wrenched back from space, the weight of atmosphere bears down once again.
