Thank you to Toronto Search and Rescue - Marine Medical and Safety Officer Christina Z who held an education day for some of our crew.

Keeping your knowledge and skills sharp is what makes you a good SAR Tech.

When Christina is not volunteering as a member of the Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary Central and Arctic Inc. she is a full-time paramedic.
Our volunteers come from all walks of life. They all have one thing in common service before self!

Wind 20 knots gusting 30, wave height on lake 3M, windchill -4, rain steady & horizontal. We all had a good time! 🤣Toronto Search and Rescue - Marine crew members are made of pretty strong stuff or when necessary GRAVOL is your best friend!

Toronto Search and Rescue - Marine, proud member of Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary Central and Arctic Inc. spent the teaching Breakfast Television host Carlos Bustamante about water and boating safety.

The water temperature was 4-5 degrees Celsius.

As you can seen from the man overboard rescue the life jacket kept Bob on the surface of the water, face up. This is very important as it keeps you alive but also makes you far more visible.

Wearing a life jacket is the most important rule regardless of you are a good swimmer.
No one plans an accident or an emergency.

Today we celebrate Flag day in Ontario. I am sure many of you didn’t know that.
Now you do.

We live in the largest, most beautiful province in Canada with hundreds and hundreds of pristine lakes. People come around the world to view its splendour.

Here’s to celebrating Ontario Flag Day.

Fun morning talking about the importance of wearing a life jacket or PFD. Toronto Search and Rescue - Marine Deputy Unit Leader Ryan Lippert teaches Carlos from
Breakfast Television the important differences between colourful, eye catching floatation devices and a life jacket that can save your life.

Coxswain and Shipwright Royce N taught Carlos about our man overboard rescue techniques and hypothermia.

We hope the BT viewers learned the importance of always wearing their life jacket whenever they are near and around water!

Toronto Search and Rescue - Marine is hanging out with Breakfast Television this morning learning about water and boat safety!

SITTEP: Toronto Search and Rescue - Marine encountered a vessel in distress with engine failure. pointed The person hailed us on his handheld VHF for help. Crew members Ronnie was at the helm and Todd on navigation & radio. Jennie handled the point of contact myself and Jon deck hand with Coxswain Ryan in charge. Together we were able to safely tow vessel to his base.
Team work and training, two elements that create successful rescues.
