“How can I preserve my tawheed?”

The scholars mention that:
• The student of knowledge who possesses knowledge but does not act upon it resembles the Jews.
• The one who acts without knowledge resembles the Christians.
This meaning is connected to Sūrat al-Fātiḥah:
﴿اهْدِنَا الصِّرَاطَ الْمُسْتَقِيمَ ۝ صِرَاطَ الَّذِينَ أَنْعَمْتَ عَلَيْهِمْ غَيْرِ الْمَغْضُوبِ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا الضَّالِّينَ﴾
“Guide us to the Straight Path — the path of those You have blessed, not those who earned Your anger nor those who went astray.”
(Sūrah al-Fātiḥah 6–7)
The scholars explain that:
• “Those who earned Your anger” refers to the Jews, because they had knowledge yet opposed and acted against it.
• “Those who went astray” refers to the Christians, because they worshipped and acted without correct knowledge.
For example:
• The Jews knew Allah and believed in Him, yet they still fell into corruption and false statements regarding Allah.
• The Christians worship with devotion according to what they believe, but they do so upon incorrect beliefs and without true knowledge.
So:
• The student of knowledge who learns but does not practice resembles those who had knowledge but failed to act upon it.
• The one who acts and worships without seeking correct knowledge resembles those who went astray due to ignorance.
The Muslim is commanded to combine both:
Correct knowledge and righteous action. #العلم #قرآن #طالب
