In the past few days, many of my constituents have been reaching out to my office with the concerns of a possible delay in opening the long awaited new Catholic Secondary School at the former Scarlett Heights Entrepreneurial Academy. Yesterday I spoke to the TCDSB on behalf of thousands of my constituents that the delay in opening of the new school will cause scores of uncertainty and unnecessary pressure on families and students.
I want to thank the school board and those who attended yesterday's meeting for opposing the motion by Teresa Lubinski which could have risked timelines for Scarlett Heights rehabilitation, expansion and opening to Catholic Students.
It was my pleasure to join the Premier at the opening of the Ukrainian Mega Gala: Stars Parade here in Etobicoke. Ontario is home to many Ukrainian Canadians and Etobicoke welcomed thousands of Ukrainians fleeing the war since early 2022. It was very nice to see so many members of the community come together.
On November 11, 1918 Poland gained its long sought and fought independence from German, Austria-Hungarian and Russian Empires. Many Polish Canadians fought in World War 1 and actively participated in the restoration of the sovereignty of Poland.
Today Canada and Poland enjoy profound friendship and trade relations. May our friendship and ties continue growing stronger.
Today and every day we remember the brave men and women in the uniform who gave everything for the freedoms and peace we have.
This morning I joined the Remembrance Day ceremony at Etobicoke Civic Centre. It was very touching to see many people, including children, from across Etobicoke gathering to commemorate our heroes.
Yesterday evening, I attended a very special celebration of the 70th Anniversary of Wiktor Podolski Polish School in Ottawa.
Many years ago, when my family immigrated to Canada, this school became a big part of our lives, as my siblings and I attended it.
Yesterday I was able to reconnect with old friends, and catch up with teachers who played such a big role in shaping who I am today.
70 years is an incredible milestone! May the Polish School of Ottawa continue to thrive, nurturing young minds for many more years to come. Here’s to the next 70 years of success, growth, and cultural exchange!
Yesterday, I had the honour of rising to introduce the family of former Mayor of York, Gayle Christie, who was a trailblazer for women in politics, and an instrumental force behind my pursuit of becoming the MPP for Etobicoke-Centre. A profound community advocate, she will always be remembered.
Recently, MPP and I attended the Remembrance Day ceremony organized by the Ukrainian Canadian Congress.
Let us always remember the immense sacrifices made by the brave men and women who fought for the freedoms we often take for granted. Their courage and commitment shaped the world we live in, ensuring that democratic values, the rule of law, and the pursuit of peace could flourish. Unfortunately, there are forces in the world today that seek to undermine democracies, destabilize nations, and disregard international law. These threats remind us that the fight for freedom is never truly over. It requires vigilance, unity, and a steadfast commitment to standing against those who would tear down what so many fought and died for.
Claiming her birthday treat on this very special day🐶🐾
Happy 5th birthday Ayana!
This past weekend I spent a fantastic time attending the opening ceremony at the training facility of the Eurostep Girls League.
Huge congratulations to the local Etobicoke basketball gym on launching the Girls League! This is an incredible milestone that opens up opportunities for our young athletes. Playing sports teaches invaluable life skills like teamwork, persistence, and perseverance—qualities that will serve these girls both on and off the court.
Kudos to the staff for their hard work and dedication in making this happen! Here’s to a successful season ahead and inspiring the next generation of female athletes! 🏀👏
Recently I joined the Moleben and the reception at on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of St. Demetrius Catholic School. May this wonderful school thrive for many more years!
A big thank you to the teachers and dedicated staff who make each school year very special for every student!
Thank you Father John Tataryn for your leadership for all these years and all the hard work put to make school a very special place for the Ukrainian community of Etobicoke Centre.
Please see my statement regarding Ontario Place:
