After the applause: Paramedic Week ends, silence returns.
Did you know…
Paramedics are not firefighters.
Paramedics are not associated with the local fire department.
When you call 911 for a medical emergency, car crash, victims involved in fires, trauma, strokes, chest pain, heart attacks, seizures, difficultly breathing, emergency child birth… the list goes on.
Paramedics are the ones who will be treating you and transporting you to the hospital.
Paramedics are extensively educated, highly trained medical professionals who are the first responders to come when you call 911.
Paramedics are exposed to the same risks and trauma as their allies in the fire and police departments.
But, paramedics are not afforded the same:
… retirement options
… health benefits
… community support
… mental health supports
… wages
… paramedics are not legislated as an essential service
… paramedics are always there when your call comes in for help!
We are asking for your support now.
