🚌National School Bus Safety Week!💛

Getting to and from school safely is a team effort! This National School Bus Safety Week, let’s remind our students of a few important rules to keep in mind:

🛑 Stay out of the bus danger zone — if you can touch the bus, you’re too close!
👀 If you can’t see the bus driver, they can’t see you.
🪑 Sit properly, keep your body and belongings inside the bus, and follow the driver’s instructions.
🤝 Use the handrail when getting on and off, and take two giant steps away from the bus.
🚸 When crossing the road, always cross in front of the bus, wait for the driver’s signal, and walk — never run!

A few simple safety habits can make a big difference. Let’s work together to help every student arrive safely! 💙

As the days get darker earlier, proper outdoor lighting becomes even more important for crime prevention and neighbourhood safety. 🌙

Well-lit driveways, entrances, walkways and yards can help reduce dark hiding spots, improve visibility and make it easier to spot potential hazards.

A few simple ways to brighten up your space:
🔦 Install motion-activated lights near entrances and driveways.
💡 Choose energy-efficient LED lighting.
✨ Keep lighting consistent and replace burnt-out bulbs.
⬇️ Aim lights downward to reduce glare and light pollution.

Small changes can make a big difference in creating safer, more welcoming neighbourhoods!

✨ Then & Now: Meet Avery! ✨

Twenty years ago, Avery was attending a field trip at the Zekelman Safety Village as a young learner. Today, she’s back at the Village — but this time, she’s the one teaching! 👮‍♀️💙

As our Crime Prevention Lead, Avery now helps educate the next generation on safety, bringing her journey full circle from learning about safety as a child to sharing that knowledge with children in our community.

Who knew one field trip could come full circle? 🥹 Here’s to making a lasting impact, one safety lesson at a time!
