SB TANUDAN HONORS LATE FORMER MEMBER GABRIEL BANGGUIYAC

September 11, 2026 — The Sangguniang Bayan of Tanudan paid tribute to the late Hon. Gabriel Bangguiyac, former Member of the Sangguniang Bayan for the term 2016–2019, through a posthumous resolution of honor and recognition.

During his wake, representatives of the Sangguniang Bayan presented the resolution to his family, together with the Philippine flag, in recognition of his years of dedicated service and contribution to the Municipality of Tanudan.

His service to the people of Tanudan will be remembered with honor and gratitude.

SB TANUDAN HOLDS REGULAR SESSION; PUBLIC SERVICE RECOGNITION ORDINANCE APPROVED

The Sangguniang Bayan of Tanudan conducted its regular session on September 8, 2026.

In the absence of Vice Mayor Atty. Antonio L. Basungit Jr., Hon. Pablo S. Baliwag, Association of Barangay Captains (ABC) President and Member of the Sangguniang Bayan, presided over the session.

Among the measures approved was an ordinance establishing a Three-Consecutive-Term Exemplary Public Service Recognition Program for qualified elected barangay officials of Tanudan, Kalinga.

The ordinance provides for a one-time recognition incentive of ₱20,000 for qualified barangay officials who have rendered exemplary public service for three consecutive terms, recognizing their commitment and sustained service to their respective communities.

The Sangguniang Bayan also took up a proposed ordinance granting incentives and recognition to students from Tanudan who excel and win or place in journalism, quiz bee, and other academic competitions.

The proposed measure aims to recognize the achievements of Tanudan’s young learners and encourage them to continue pursuing academic excellence while bringing pride and honor to the municipality.

The measures reflect the Sangguniang Bayan’s continuing efforts to recognize dedicated public servants and support the achievements of Tanudan’s students.

TANUDAN SB JOINS 126TH PSCA AND FIRST PROVINCIAL SEASON OF CREATION CELEBRATION

The Sangguniang Bayan of Tanudan, represented by Hon. Alex I. Ladwingon, Hon. Johnny Liddawa, Hon. Lourdes Masa-ao, and Hon. Leon Bulakit, participated today in the 126th Philippine Civil Service Anniversary (PSCA) and the First Provincial Season of Creation Celebration.

The activity brought together government employees and local government officials in recognition of public service, while highlighting the importance of environmental stewardship and collective responsibility in protecting the community and its natural resources.

The participation of the Tanudan Sangguniang Bayan reflects its continued support for programs that promote meaningful public service, unity, and sustainable development.

Hon. Shelton M. Pao-iton Joins Tanudan Team in Governor’s Cup

Hon. Shelton M. Pao-iton joined the Tanudan basketball team in its Governor’s Cup match against the Municipality of Tinglayan, held in Balbalan, Kalinga on September 4.

Tanudan dominated the game and secured a 56–39 victory over Tinglayan.

The game was also an opportunity for Tanudan to showcase its competitive spirit and camaraderie, with Hon. Pao-iton joining the team on the court in representing the municipality.

While other members of the Sangguniang Bayan were attending the Tanudan Municipal Athletic Meet in Taloctoc, Hon. Pao-iton represented the SB in the Governor’s Cup game in Balbalan.

The Sangguniang Bayan continues to support activities that bring Tanudan together through sports, while promoting teamwork, discipline, and pride in representing the municipality.

Vice Mayor Basungit Attends VMLP National Meetings in Manila

Vice Mayor Atty. Antonio L. Basungit Jr. attended the 3rd Quarter National Executive Board Meeting of the Vice Mayors’ League of the Philippines (VMLP) Officers and the 3rd Conference of the Academy of Presiding Officers (APO), held at The Manila Hotel from September 2 to 4, 2026.

The conference brought together vice mayors and presiding officers from different local government units for discussions on local governance, legislative leadership, and the continuing role of presiding officers in effective local administration.

Among the lecture sessions facilitated by the UP NCPAG Center for Local and Regional Governance were “Leading Policy Evaluation for Oversight,” “AI Platform Stress Test,” "Ensuring an Evidence based Legislation" and “Strategic Communications,” along with other sessions focused on strengthening the capacity of local legislative leaders.

One of the highlights of the conference was the discussion led by retired Supreme Court Justice Antonio T. Carpio on the Philippines’ position on its national territory and the 2016 Arbitral Award. His discussion provided the participants with a deeper understanding of the legal and historical basis of the country’s position.

The activity served not only as a venue for organizational matters of the VMLP, but also as an opportunity for vice mayors and presiding officers to learn, exchange experiences, and strengthen their capacity to lead their respective local legislative bodies.

SB Tanudan Joins Municipal Athletic Meet in Taloctoc

The Sangguniang Bayan of Tanudan took part in the opening of the Tanudan Municipal Athletic Meet on September 4 at Taloctoc, bringing the local legislative body closer to one of the municipality’s major activities for its young athletes.

Carrying the theme, “United Through Sports, Empowered for Progress,” the three-day athletic meet brings together student-athletes from the different schools of Tanudan in a celebration of sportsmanship, discipline, talent, and healthy competition.

The municipality’s continuing support for its athletes is also reflected in legislation. Among the recent measures approved by the Sangguniang Bayan is the Revised Tanudan Athlete Cash Incentive Ordinance of 2026, which provides incentives to Tanudan athletes who excel in recognized competitions.

Vice Mayor Atty. Antonio L. Basungit Jr. was unable to join the opening as he was attending the 3rd Quarter Meeting of the Vice Mayors’ League of the Philippines (VMLP) at The Manila Hotel. Hon. Shelton M. Pao-iton was likewise away, representing Tanudan in a Governor’s Cup game in Balbalan.

Following the opening program, the Sangguniang Bayan proceeded with its regular session and conducted a public consultation, both held in Taloctoc.

The day reflected the SB’s continuing presence in the community, not only in the session hall, but also in activities that bring people together and support the development of Tanudan’s youth.

SB Tanudan Participates in the 126th Civil Service Anniversary Ganda ng HR and Governor’s Cup

The Sangguniang Bayan of Tanudan joined the other public servants of the municipality in the 126th Civil Service Anniversary Ganda ng HR and Governor’s Cup.

With this year’s theme, “Bawat Kawani, Lingkod Bayani: Puso, Dangal, at Galing Para sa Bayan,” the activity was an opportunity to celebrate public service, build camaraderie, and strengthen teamwork among government employees.

Although Vice Mayor Atty. Antonio L. Basungit Jr. was unable to attend as he was participating in the 3rd Quarter Meeting of the Vice Mayors’ League of the Philippines (VMLP), held at The Manila Hotel from September 2 to 4, the SB Tanudan, together with the public servants of Tanudan, proudly represented the municipality.

Meanwhile, ABC Pablo S. Baliwag and Hon. Alex I. Ladwingon helped in the preparation for the Municipal Sports Meet to be held in Taloctoc on September 4 to 6.

54th Regular Session of the Sangguniang Bayan | August 25, 2026

The Sangguniang Bayan welcomed Hon. Spike S. Pugao, OIC-SK President and SK Vice President, who attended the session in behalf of Hon. Jericho W. Golwingon, who is currently on medical leave.

During the session, three important ordinances were approved:

• SK Additional Honorarium Ordinance of 2026 – provides additional honorarium to SK officials in recognition of their work and responsibilities in serving the youth in their respective barangays.

• Revised Tanudan Athlete Cash Incentive Ordinance of 2026 – updates the incentives given to Tanudan athletes who excel and represent the municipality in different sports competitions.

• Adoption of the Mental Health Act Ordinance – adopts the provisions of the Mental Health Act at the local level and strengthens the municipality’s efforts in promoting mental health awareness, support, and protection.

These ordinances are part of the SB’s continuing effort to support the youth, recognize the achievements of our athletes, and give importance to the mental well-being of our people.
