Kumba II Mayor Joins Muslims To Fete Ramadan

The Mayor of Kumba II Council, Chief Mbachu Jacob Kay, on Friday, March 20, joined the Muslim faithful to celebrate the Feast of Ramadan, Eid al-Fitr.

The mayor of the CPDM party-run council and also Section President of CPDM party for Meme IB, was among the dignitaries, led by the Senior Divisional Officer, SDO, for Meme Division, Chamberlin Ntou'ou Ndong, present at the Kumba Amusement Park ceremonial ground for prayers and the message.

The ceremony was coordinated by the Assistant Imam of the Kumba Central Mosque, Aladji Nasiro Ibrahim Audu, who doubles as the First Deputy Mayor of Kumba II Subdivisional Council.

Jacob Kay who has always shown commitment to the Muslim faithful in his municipality, listened to the sermon delivered and partook in the prayers in the presence of the Imam of the Kumba Central Mosque, Ibrahim Mohammed.

During the sermon, the Assistant Imam of the kumba Central Mosque urged Muslim faithful to remain steadfast to their Creator, Allah.
He said Muslims should not worship Allah only during Ramadan but at all times.

Nasiro told them Allah has accepted their Ramadan and they should shun vices such as the consumption and commercialisation of hard drugs; scamming; stealing; alcoholism; fornication; adultery; prostitution; among others.

He urged them to truly repent and amend their ways.
Nasiro reiterated that Ramadan is a day of celebration and not to fast because they had gone through a lot during the month long fasting.

It was an opportunity for the Muslim faithful to renew their commitment to worship Allah fervently.

At the end of the prayers and sermon, Muslim faithful retreated to their various houses where they were joined by loved ones, both Muslims and non Muslims, in heavy feasting after a long period of fasting.

Meme IB Recommits Support For Party, National President

Militants and sympathisers of the ruling Cameroon People's Democratic Movement, CPDM, party for Meme IB in kumba II Subdivision, Meme Division of the South West Region, have recommited their unflinching support to the party and its national president, His Excellency Paul Biya, Head of State and President of the Republic.

The recommitment was taken on Tuesday, March 24, during celebration to mark the 41st anniversary of the CPDM party, born in 1985 in Bamenda.

The event was chaired by the Section President of Meme IB, Chief Mbachu Jacob Kay, who doubles as the Mayor of Kumba II Subdivisional Council.
It attended by the Head of the Permanent Divisional Delegation of the party for Meme, Justice Chief Benjamin Mutanga Itoe; Senior Divisional Officer, SDO, for Meme Division, Chamberlin Ntou'ou Ndong; Member of Parliament, MP, for Kumba Urban Constituency, Hon Lawson Tabot Bakia; Divisional Officer, DO, of kumba II Subdivision, Edwin Nkenya Ngwana; Councillor of the South West Regional Assembly, Alexander Mbeaoh, among other dignitaries.

Speaking at the event, the section president thanked the militants and sympathisers for taking time to join in the celebration of the legacy of their wise comrade, President Paul Biya, and the CPDM party.
He re-echoed the theme of the anniversary celebration:"Let us prepare to further consolidate the strength and position of the party behind the national president, his Project, Greatness, and Hope."

He stated the CPDM was born out of a desire for change and commitment to transform Cameroon from low income Third World nation to an emerging one.
"Throughout the years, our national president, comrade Paul Biya, has worked tirelessly in promoting democracy, social and economic liberalisation and international cooperation," he stated.

He added:"Together and in unity, we have made significant strides in infrastructure, development, education, and economic growth.Our national president and comrade has always presented himself as a beacon of light, stability, and vision, guiding this nation witfully even through challenging times."

Kay told the militants that CPDM Meme IB Section is a bonafide partaker of President Biya's drive for balanced regional development as seen in the approved technical college in kumba II Subdivision.
He also revealed that kumba II Subdivisional Council emerged on the first position in the ex*****on of PROLOG projects in Meme Division.

The section president encouraged the militants, sympathisers, and denizens of kumba II Municipality to pen their names in the electoral register of Elections Cameroon, ELECAM, so as to actively participate in the upcoming Municipal and Legislative elections in Cameroon.

He noted the CPDM under comrade President Paul Biya is the winning party as evident in the just ended presidential election of October 12, 2025.
"Let's continue to keep the flags of our nation and party flying high," he concluded.

Earlier, the host Subsection President, Asanga Ernest Funjoh, of Hausa Quarters I, in a welcome address stated that over the past four decades, the CPDM has stood as the pillar of unity, peace, democracy, and national integration in Cameroon.

He noted the strength is in their ability to stand together, speak with one voice, and support the visionary leadership of the national president.
"We must therefore renew our commitment towards mobilisation at the grassroots level, strengthen party structures, and continue to promote the values of peace, hard work, and patriotism," Asanga stated.
Adding that each militant has a role to play in ensuring the party remains strong, vibrant, and victorious in all future endeavours.

Meanwhile, both the youth, YCPDM, and women, WCPDM, section presidents stressed on the importance of unity and recommited their unwavering support for President Paul Biya.

To the Section President of the WCPDM, Shalo Gladys Nana, it was a special anniversary celebration because it comes at a time when they have invested their national president, His Excellency Paul Biya, with another mandate as President of the Republic of Cameroon, dedicated to women and youth.

Greater unity and recommitment among militants were reiterated by the MP for Kumba Urban Constituency, Hon Lawson Tabot Bakia and the Head of the Permanent Divisional Delegation of the party for Meme, Justice Chief Benjamin Mutanga Itoe.
They called on the militants to redouble efforts as well as support the party not only financially but also morally because the hour is coming.
To them, the CPDM must win the upcoming elections.

A Motion of Support to President Paul Biya and the institutions he incarnates was read out and handed to the SDO for Meme Division for onward transmission to Yaounde.

An anniversary cake was cut and shared among the militants, sympathisers, and guests.
The colourful event was interspersed with animations.
The rendezvous has been taken for March 24 next year.

Public Independent Conciliator Fosters Collaboration For Quality Services Delivery

The Office of the Public Independent Conciliator, OPIC, for the South West Region, Buea, has organised a Town Hall Meeting to foster collaboration for quality services delivery in kumba II Municipality, Meme Division.

The meeting held on Thursday, July 31, 2025, in the conference hall of Kumba II Subdivisional Council under theme:"Office of the Public Independent Conciliator: Fostering Collaboration Between the Kumba II Council and Community Stakeholders for Quality Services Delivery."

The session was chaired by the Public Independent Conciliator for the South West Region, Madame Dorothy Telelen Atabong spouse Motazé, represented by Chief Fonju Bernard, in the presence of the Senior Divisional Officer, SDO, for Meme Division, Chamberlin Ntou'ou Ndong, represented by his Second Assistant, Hermia Ngowo Kinge spouse Njonje.
In attendance were the Divisional Officer of Kumba II Subdivision, Edwin Nkenya Ngwana, and the host, Mayor of Kumba II Subdivisional Council, Chief Mbachu Jacob Kay, as well as various community stakeholders.

In a welcome address, at the meeting, Mayor Jacob Kay stated the theme of the Town Hall Meeting highlighted the importance of teamwork in the growth and development of the community.
To this, he noted the key objectives include that of collaboration with the aimed at strengthening partnerships between the council and community stakeholders; quality service with the goal to ensure that services meet the highest standards benefitting all community members, and; community engagement in which the council encourages active participation from all stakeholders to create a better future for the community.

On his part, the representative of the Public Independent Conciliator stated the meeting was to interact with the community to strengthen platform of collaboration between the citizens as community stakeholders and the council within the spirit of enhancing local governance.

He reminded participants about the core objectives as well as highlighted key areas of focus of the Office of the Public Independent Conciliator, OPIC.
Fonju stated OPIC was established under the provisions of Chapter III Section 367(1) of the General Code of Regional and Local Authorities within the framework of the "Special Status."
"Thereafter, Decree No 2020/773 of 24 December 2020 laid down conditions for discharge of duties of the Public Independent Conciliator in the North-West and South-West Regions," he stated.
The representative of the Public Independent Conciliator while discussing on the elaborate decree, stated OPIC has four fundamental missions.
These include examination and amicably settling disputes between users and regional and council administrations; defending and protecting rights and freedoms with regard to the relationship between citizens and the region or the councils thereof; designing and implementing measures to prevent and combat direct or indirect discrimination that may affect users of regional or council services, and; ensuring that persons serving in the regional or council administrations comply with their ethical obligations.

Dwelling on the theme of the meeting, Fonju stated it highlighted the sincere efforts of the Office the Public Independent Conciliator to accompany the Municipality of Kumba II to improve on the quality of services delivery to users, bearing in mind that the primary goal of OPIC is to improve and promote local governance through citizen participation.
He stated:"While the council continues to work towards its statutory missions aimed at providing development services to the population within the framework of Government's decentralization policy, our call is that users also play their role and contribute in fostering a user-friendly culture by fulfilling their duties and respecting their obligations toward the Council in domains such as hygiene and sanitation, payment of taxes, acquisition of civil status documents and building permits just to name these."

According to the representative of the Public Independent Conciliator, it is common knowledge that when everyone plays their part as in a team, adhering to existing regulations, it leads to a visible improvement in local governance and greater peace in the community.
"It is therefore the role of the Public Independent Conciliator to ensure that this collaboration with decentralized local collectivities and the population who are their users is fruitful," he noted.

Meanwhile, in the various presentations, staff of the Office of the Public Independent Conciliator for the South West Region dwelled on two important aspects.
In the first, Research Officer Number 3, Ebong Ngole wren, focused on the missions of OPIC while Research Officer Number 5, Esie Lucy Abwa Ndiaka, explained the obligations of councils towards users, and the rights and obligations of users towards councils.
Their presentations were corroborated and elaborated by the representative of the Public Independent Conciliator, Fonju Bernard, and Research Officer Number 1, Tabe Eyong Adele, respectively.

These were followed by an interactive session in which a series of questions were posed by the citizens and answers delivered by the representative of the Public Independent Conciliator, Mayor of Kumba II Subdivisional Council, and Divisional Officer of Kumba II Subdivision.
Worries from the citizens of Kumba II Municipality ranged from bad road network, electricity supply, lack of potable water, issuance of building permits, among others.
At the end of the Town Hall Meeting, the citizens expressed satisfaction and gratitude to the Public Independent Conciliator for the gesture in organising the event.

So far, the Office of the Public Independent Conciliator for the South West Region has held Town Hall Meetings in all the councils of Meme Division except for the Kumba City Council which is previewed subsequently.

Kumba II Municipality:
Mayor Advocates Hitch-free New School Year

The Mayor of Kumba II Subdivisional Council, Chief Mbachu Jacob Kay, has launched an advocacy for a hitch-free 2025/2026 school year in his municipality.

In a chat with the press, Mayor Jacob Kay noted that all will be put in place by his council to ensure the teaching-learning process is being carried out in a calm and serene environment.

To him, there is no reason for any child to stay behind when the bells of the new school year toll on September 8, 2025.

According to the mayor, education is paramount for the future of Cameroon as it is the only way in accompanying the Head of State, President of the Republic, His Excellency Paul Biya, in his 2035 emergence vision of Cameroon
He said education is a fundamental right and must be respected by all.

Kay castigated calls by unknown forces aimed at interrupting the start of the school year as it is against universal principles.
"That's archaic and mustn't be heeded to in this present dispensation," Kay said.

He is strongly advocating for various stakeholders to get the classrooms ready so as to welcome the kids, pupils, and students in their pursuits to acquire knowledge.

Since assuming office in 2020, Kumba II Mayor has been quite instrumental in fostering the teaching-learning process in his municipality.

In the heart of the COVID-19 pandemic, Mayor Jacob Kay led his council in the distribution of didactics to schools.
Added to this, he engaged the council in the fumigation of classrooms and campuses to wade off the effects of the pandemic.

His enormous contributions in fostering education can be conspicuously be seen in the construction of classrooms in his municipality.

This year, Mayor Jacob Kay is bent on getting the Minimum Package from the Ministry of Basic Education as early as possible to enhance the school year.

The mayor has beckoned on all stakeholders to join the council to ensure a conducive atmosphere in the school milieu when the doors will be opened.

In this light, kumba II Subdivisional Council is expected to take the advocacy to the different neighbourhoods and crusade for an effective school year 2025/2026.

Kumba II Council Sporting Activities:
Preparations Heighten Ahead Of 4th Edition

Preparations have intensified in Kumba II municipality ahead of the 4th edition of Kumba II Council Holiday Sporting Activities.

The Mayor of Kumba II Subdivisional Council, Chief Mbachu Jacob Kay, has been holding series of preparatory meetings and consultations with the different stakeholders to give the event the pomp it deserves.

Expected to take place at the Presbyterian School field in Fiango, headquarters of Kumba II Subdivision, the holiday sporting activities would run from July to August 2024.
The event has as objectives the discovery and development of talents; occupying youths during the holiday for a healthy atmosphere; creating a meeting ground for friendship and solidarity among young people of various areas; protect and develop talents towards superior competitions, and; instilling the idea of placing in youths responsible behaviours.

According to the mayor, the Kumba II Council Holiday Sporting Activities will include keep-fit, athletics, football for both boys and girls.
The athletics will involve a semi marathon race while the football matches will witness clashes between the various neighborhoods.

The overall organisation, control and supervision of the event will be done by the Mayor of Kumba II Subdivisional Council, Chief Mbachu Jacob Kay, with the technical control and supervision of the Subdivisional Delegate of Sports and Physical Education for Kumba II.

Just as in the past three editions, the upcoming holiday sporting activities will produce fireworks given the readiness of the various communities, players and athletes.

Kumba II Mayor Wins Development-Oriented Outstanding Award

The Mayor of Kumba II Subdivisional Council, Chief Mbachu Jacob Kay, has received a distinction for his achievements at the helm of the municipality.

He was accorded the award-winning as the Most Outstanding Development-Oriented Mayor in a highly-attended ceremony organised on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at Jua Hotel in Bamenda, headquarters of the North West region of Cameroon.

Chief Mbachu Jacob Kay was conferred the Life Time Media Group Life Time Achievement Award for Nation Builders Gold Category 2023/2024 in recognition of merit.
His choice was done by a meticulously-selected jury

Before handing over the award to the laureate, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Life Time Media Group and Publisher of Life Time magazine/newspaper, Tim Njua Finnian, made a vivid presentation of the Life Time Achievement Award for Nation Builders.

Meanwhile, receiving the award for his outstanding performances since ascending the helm of Kumba II Subdivisional Council in the year 2020, Mayor Mbachu Kay expressed gratitude for the recognition.
He was elated to know that all what he has been doing for the development of Kumba II municipality were being monitored by the population and media professionals who are the watchdogs of the society.

While promising to do more, the mayor called on his staff and entire population of Kumba II to continue in joining him for the development of Kumba II municipality towards emergence in line with the vision of the Head of State, President of the Republic, His Excellency Paul Biya.

The award to Mayor Mbachu Kay falls within the framework of the 14th edition of the Life Time Achievement Award and 21 years of celebration of the Life Time Media Group.
The laureate, who is also the Section President of the Cameroon People's Democratic Movement, CPDM, party for Meme IB in Kumba II Subdivision, had been very instrumental in the victory of the party during the last legislative and municipal elections of 2020 in the area by flushing out the opposition Social Democratic Front, SDF, party that was at the helm of the council since its creation in 2007 as well as greatly contributed in the CPDM grabbing the lone Kumba Urban constituency parliamentary seat from the opposition, SDF party.
