AMBASSADOR THERESA ADJEI-MENSAH JOINS IN A SPIRIT OF SOLIDARITY, RWANDA’S 32ND KWIBUKA COMMEMORATION IN PRAGUE

At the invitation of H.E Richard Masozera, Ambassador of the Republic of Rwanda to the Czech Republic, H.E Theresa Adjei-Mensah participated yesterday in the 32nd Kwibuka Commemoration of the Genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda, held in Prague.

The ceremony was particularly moving, especially the heartfelt testimony shared by Madam Judence, a survivor of the genocide, who courageously recounted how the painful memories of her experiences continue to affect her deeply.

On behalf of His Excellency the President of the Republic of Ghana, the Embassy of Ghana in Prague extends its deepest solidarity to the people of Rwanda. We wish them continued healing, strength, and peace as they commemorate this solemn anniversary and work towards a brighter future.

GHANA-CZECH INTER-PARLIAMENTARY UNION ESTABLISHED

During his working visit to the Czech Republic, the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ghana, Hon. James Gyakye Quayson, on 1st April, 2026, held a productive meeting with the newly established “Friends of Ghana” group in the Czech Parliament. He was accompanied by H.E Theresa Adjei-Mensah, Ghana’s Ambassador to the Czech Republic, H.E Eric Owusu, Director of Europe at the Foreign Ministry of Ghana.

In discussions with the six-member parliamentary group, the Czech parliamentarians expressed that their decision to form the Friends of Ghana was inspired by the positive and memorable personal experiences they had each encountered during their earlier visits to Ghana, prior to assuming their parliamentary responsibilities.

They also conveyed warm greetings and goodwill to their counterparts in the Czech Parliamentary Group within Ghana’s Parliament and looked forward to visiting Ghana soon to explore of areas of mutual benefit for both sides.

METRO MASS TRANSIT GHANA-ŠKODA GROUP CZECH PARTNERSHIP

Today, H.E Theresa Adjei-Mensah, Ghana’s Ambassador to the Czech Republic led a delegation from the Metro Mass Transit Limited (MMTL) of Ghana to the Škoda Group in the Czech Republic, manufacturers of Škoda vehicles, to explore the possibility of establishing a partnership between the two transport companies including setting up an assembly plant in Ghana.

Mr.Kale Caesar, Managing Director of Metro Mass Ghana highlighted that following the increase in the demand for MMT services in the last few months, it has become pertinent for an expansion of its operations and welcomed the idea of the partnership between Metro Mass Transit and Škoda company for mutual benefit.
The proposed partnership is expected to be reviewed and concluded in the coming weeks.

Mr.Lukas, Sales Manager at Škoda Group expressed appreciation to Amb. Theresa Adjei-Mensah for facilitating this engagement, and was optimistic that setting up an assembly plant in Ghana will be favorably considered since they do not have any such in the sub-Saharan region.

GHANA-CZECH MAIDEN POLITICAL CONSULTATIONS

The Governments of the Republic of Ghana and the Czech Republic are scheduled to hold their First bilateral Political Consultations on 1st April 2026, in Prague.

This important engagement is aimed at further strengthening the already excellent relations between the two countries.

The discussions will focus on enhancing mutual cooperation and advancing shared interests across various sectors in the coming days.

GHANA -CZECH TRADE AND ENERGY COOPERATION

In line with Mission's ongoing efforts to strengthen investment and trade ties with the Czech Republic, H.E Theresa Adjei-Mensah held a meeting with Mr. Michal Prokop, Deputy Director for the Department of non-European Countries at the Ministry of Industry and Trade, together with Ms. Iva Sojková, desk officer responsible for Ghana, who also had the pleasure of having studied at the University of Ghana, Legon, on 2nd March 2026.

Discussions focused and concluded on the resumption of a pending Economic Cooperation Agreement between the two countries, a proposal to organize a Business Trade Mission in the Czech Republic to welcome Ghanaian businesses and further strengthen economic ties, which tentatively scheduled for June, in Prague, as well as the development of a complementary agreement between the two nations on energy cooperation.

GHANA-CZECH DIPLOMATIC RELATIONS

On Thursday, 19th March 2026, H.E Theresa Adjei-Mensah, had the pleasure of meeting with the Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, H.E Petr Macinka at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in Prague .

Discussions centered on strengthening the existing partnership between Ghana and the Czech Republic in labour mobility, security, infrastructural development, including a proposal for a Visa waiver for holders of Diplomatic and Service passports between the two countries, energy security and among others.

The two sides also discussed the upcoming maiden Political Consultation between the two countries, which is scheduled for 1st April 2026, in Prague.

The meeting concluded with both sides reaffirming their commitment to strengthening the longstanding of friendship between Ghana and the Czech Republic.

The other day at the Czech University of Life Sciences, H.E Theresa Adjei-Mensah was invited Guest Speaker at the Next -Gen Leadership Workshop to speak on the topic “Leading in Multicultural Environments “ by the Faculty of Tropical AgriScience (FTZ) Student ambassadors.

She shared with students her experiences growing up and on how to build leadership skills to succeed in every aspect of life .

GHANA-CZECH EDUCATION COLLABORATION
Today, H.E Theresa Adjei-Mensah, Ghana’s Ambassador to the Czech Republic held a meeting with the Department of International Relations and European Union at the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of the Czech Republic.

Key among the discussions was the possibility of increasing scholarship opportunities for Ghanaian students, particularly females to study in the areas of Science and Technology in tertiary institutions in the Czech Republic.
Amb. Theresa also discussed the growing concern of frequent student visa denials for Ghanaian students who gain admissions into universities in the Czech Republic.

The Director of the Department stated that indeed Ghanaian students studying in the Czech Republic are well behaved and noted the concern of the student visa denials. He however assured that his outfit will continue to engage the relevant Czech authorities on both the scholarships opportunities and the issuance of the appropriate visas to students from Ghana.

DIPLOMATIC RECEPTION IN COMMEMORATION OF GHANA'S 69th
INDEPENDENCE ANNIVERSARY

The Embassy of Ghana in Prague on the 6th Day of March 2026 celebrated Ghana's 69th
Independence Day with the Diplomatic Community, Ghanaian Community and Friends of Ghana in the Czech Republic.
The Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister of the Czech Republic, HE Marie Chatardová was the Guest of Honour and she highlighted in her speech the excellent relations between Ghana and the Czech Republic and also conveyed her Government's commitment to cooperate with the Government of Ghana at all levels.

GHANA/CZECH SISTER-CITY PARTNERSHIP
Her Excellency Theresa Adjei-Mensah, Ghana’s Ambassador to the Czech Republic paid a courtesy call on the Mayor of Prague 6, Hon. Jakub Stárek to explore the possibility of establishing a SisterCity partnership between the City of Prague and a city in Ghana. Prague 6 is a suburb of the City of Prague which houses the diplomatic enclave, well planned residential layout, good transport system and admirable sanitation services.
