🌟 Celebrating Volunteerism in Cooperatives 🌟

On Saturday, July 5th, 2025, history was made in Dominica with the hosting of the first-ever Cooperative Awards Ceremony, under the powerful theme: “Celebrating Volunteerism”, as part of the global observance of the International Year of Cooperatives 2025.

The prestigious event took place at the InterContinental Dominica Cabrits Resort & Spa, where cooperators from across the island gathered in elegance and unity to honour the heartbeat of the movement — our volunteers and pioneers.

🏅 Lifetime Achievement Awards were presented to 23 exceptional individuals namely: Arthur Francis, Nelson Smith, Baylon Fontaine, Josephine Dublin, Armour Thomas, Bonti Liverpool, Ellsworth Prevost, Gregory Riviere, Francis Paul, Helen Ambo, Mervin Alexander, Murphy Wallace, Ophilia Linton, Phillipa Daniel, Arlington Burnette, Revillius St. Rose, Stewart Paris, Sonia Williams, Jacob Durand, Kimanie Mourillon, Jeremie Christophe Maxima, Susanna Julianna Gordon and Olujide Obonyo. Their lifelong dedication, leadership, and service have built and sustained the cooperative movement in Dominica.

🌟 Two (2) Outstanding Volunteers Mr. Dexter Ducreay and Mrs. Vernice Bellony and�🌟 Two (2) Extraordinary Volunteers Ms. Susanna Julianna Gordon and Mrs. Josephine Dublin were recognized for their continued passion, impact, and commitment to the ideals of cooperation and community development.

🏆 In addition, Four (4) Cooperative Societies received Cooperative Awards. The winners were the National Beekeepers Cooperative Society Ltd for Cooperative Youth and Innovation, Marigot Cooperative Credit Union Ltd for Cooperative Partnership and Community Engagement, National Cooperative Credit Union Ltd for Cooperative Financial excellence and National Beekeepers Cooperative Society Ltd for Cooperative Teamwork.

The Christian Union Primary School was also recognized for having a Multi-Purpose Junior Cooperative.
It was more than a ceremony — it was a celebration of purpose, people, and progress.
💚 Congratulations to all awardees! Your contributions are invaluable, and your work continues to inspire a future of solidarity, empowerment, and resilience.
