🇸🇪 🇫🇮 🇩🇰 🇳🇴

Ambassador Gheziel invited all women working across different Norwegian companies in Algeria to a celebration of International Women’s Day 💪🇩🇿🇳🇴

Together we broke the fast, discussed, laughed, and shared ideas and experiences of what it means to be a woman today. We were also honored to have climate activist Selma with us for a talk, to share her views on climate activism and how to inspire others to make change 🌍

Thank you for an enlightening and joyful celebration 🫶

🇬🇱🇩🇰 Joint statement by Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden and the United Kingdom. 🇫🇮🇫🇷🇩🇪🇳🇱🇳🇴🇸🇪🇬🇧

The statement reads:

“As members of NATO, we are committed to strengthening Arctic security as a shared transatlantic interest. The pre-coordinated Danish exercise “Arctic Endurance“ conducted with Allies, responds to this necessity. It poses no threat to anyone.

We stand in full solidarity with the Kingdom of Denmark and the people of Greenland. Building on the process begun last week, we stand ready to engage in a dialogue based on the principles of sovereignty and territorial integrity that we stand firmly behind.

Tariff threats undermine transatlantic relations and risk a dangerous downward spiral. We will continue to stand united and coordinated in our response. We are committed to upholding our sovereignty.”

Last week, the Norwegian Embassy in Algiers met with the Governor of Algiers. H.E. Ambassador Therese Løken Gheziel and the Wali, Mr Mohamed Abdennour Rabhi exchanged views on key priorities for the city’s urban development, including better waterfront access for the public, improved green spaces and more environmentally friendly services, as well as better mobility infrastructure and systems 🌳🌊

That same day, the Algerian Ambassador to Norway, H.E. Feriel Ryma Yousfi-Ighil, visited the Mayor of Oslo Anne Lindboe, to explore areas of mutual interest between Oslo and Algiers 🏙️

Oslo and Algiers share many similarities as vibrant port cities, and both boast numerous green spaces and parks. We hope that these first meetings can both inspire and foster further exchanges in the future! 🇳🇴🤝🇩🇿

In addition, Norway will conclude an agreement with UNRWA to provide NOK 100 million in support of its humanitarian work in 2026 🇺🇳🇳🇴

Norway remains steadfast in its support for both the Palestine refugees and UNRWA’s work,’ said Minister of International Development Åsmund Aukrust.
