We are here on one of the last limestone hills on the southcoast of the lake. It will be a question of time and this white hill will disappear also. Down you can see that another new road and an artificial canal is being made and on the other side of the lake the construction of highways through and beside the lake and bridges over the lake are finished... the view is radically changing!

We went to the small island in front of Marea to look at the Roman ruins..... we found rests of towerhouses, bathes, stores and more!

We are walking everyday near the lake. In the fresh air, not much people, our only freedom this corona-days. and the dogs are happy!

Everyday we walk near the lake at the ruins of Marea. Who wants to join us and walk with us. Except on friday..because then it is too busy..normally there is hardly anybody! Walking in this big area, between Roman and late Roman ruins. Fantastic and interesting area!

Ruins, camels and birds. Old Roman & Hellenistic rests, fishermen and shepherds with camels and sheep. Reeds, reeds and more reeds. Fish-farms! Wonderful area, everything is there! I love the area... never boring!

One of the Polish archeologists told me lately by mail: there is a small chapel, between the harbor and Mar Mina. It seems to be an interesting place, because excavations took place. Pilgrims passed there to ask blessings for their, in those days, long and dangerous journey. Many pilgrims walked the whole 25 kilometers, in spite of all dangers. I found the place but I didn t have time to see it yet. Next time! This way we always find new things to explore..... never a dull moment in Egypt!
