ዛሬ ጠዋት የአፍሪካ በሽታ መቆጣጠሪያ እና መከላከያ ማዕከል (Africa CDC) ዋና ዳይሬክተር ከሆኑት ከዶክተር ዣን ካሴያ ጋር ውጤታማ ውይይት አድርገናል። በውይይታችን በተለያዩ ቅድሚያ የሚሰጣቸው ጉዳዮች ላይ የመከርን ሲሆን፤ በተለይም በአፍሪካ ሕብረት የሰው ሰራሽ አስተውሎት (AI) እና የዲጂታል ጤና ዘርፍ መሪ (Champion) በመሆን የተሰጠኝን አዲስ ኃላፊነት በሚመለከት በስፋት ተነጋግረናል።

የፈጠራ ሥራዎች ለአፍሪካ ዕድገት ምንጊዜም ወሳኝ መሰረት ናቸው። በጤናው ዘርፍ የሚገጥመንን ተለዋዋጭ ተግዳሮቶች ለመወጣት የሰው ሰራሽ አስተውሎትንና የዲጂታል ቴክኖሎጂዎችን ዐቅም መጠቀም የጤና ሥርዓታችንን ለማጠናከር፣ ተደራሽነትን ለማስፋፋት እና ለሕዝባችን የተሻለ ውጤት ለማስመዝገብ ወሳኝ ነው። ኢትዮጵያ ያላትን ልምድ ለአህጉሩ ለማካፈል እንዲሁም በፍጥነት ከሚለዋወጠው የቴክኖሎጂው ዓለም ጋር ውጤታማ በሆነ መልኩ ለመራመድ የሚያስችሉ ጠንካራ አጋርነቶችን ለመመሥረት ያላትን ቁርጠኝነት ዳግም ታረጋግጣለች።

ይህንን ርዕይ ወደ ተጨባጭና አካታች ውጤት ለመለወጥ ከአፍሪካ ሲዲሲ (Africa CDC) እና በመላው አህጉሪቱ ከሚገኙ አጋሮች ጋር በቅርበት ለመሥራት ዝግጁ ነኝ።

Good meeting this morning with Dr. Jean Kaseya, Director General of Africa CDC, during which we discussed a range of priorities, including the new responsibility entrusted to me as the African Union Champion for Artificial Intelligence and Digital Health.

Innovation remains a bedrock of Africa’s progress. As we navigate evolving health challenges, harnessing the power of AI and digital technologies will be essential to strengthening our health systems, expanding access, and delivering better outcomes for our people. Ethiopia remains committed to sharing its experience across the continent and forging strong partnerships to effectively adapt to a rapidly evolving technological landscape.

I look forward to working closely with Africa CDC and partners across the continent to translate this vision into tangible, inclusive impact.

Life expectancy rose to 68, maternal mortality reduced to 141/100,000LB, improved nutrition status, decreased TB related deaths, achieved HIV epidemic control(less than 1%), optimized HEP with more than 600 comp health post functional and under construction, 200 health centers providing operation services, open defecation reduced to 20%, more than 100 hospitals started service in 5 yrs, 154+ HG fully digitalized, locally procured drugs and supplies reached 44%, covid 19, mpox,malaria and marburg controlled, 6 cancer radiation therapy and 32 cancer chemotherapy established, 58 regional lab, 60 oxygen plants and 189 ICUs established. Reached 500k+ health care workers, attained maturity level 3 pharmaceutical regulatory standard, 63 mil people insured,
However a lot remains. With joint effort, ethiopia will definitely build resilient health system and become medical tourism center for the continent. Sincere thanks to our supporters.
