The Rwandan Community in Ethiopia gathered at the Embassy for a night vigil of remembrance, honoring the lives lost, standing together in solidarity to reflect and keep alive the light and memory of all we lost in the 1994 Genocide Against the Tutsi in Rwanda.

As we commemorate the 1994 Genocide Against the Tutsi in Rwanda, here in Ethiopia, a number of youth from every corner of the continent stand in solidarity to remember the victims of the 1994 Genocide Against the Tutsi and to carry forward a message of hope, unity, and responsibility.
Each voice is a promise to reject hatred, to stand against division, hate speech and to build a future where “Never Again” is a reality.

In Ethiopia, the 32nd Commemoration of the 1994 Genocide Against the Tutsi in Rwanda was held at the African Union Headquarters in Addis Ababa.
Event participants joined the Walk to Remember and later gathered in Nelson Mandela Hall for the commemoration marked by a moment of silence, candle-lighting.
Ambassador and all other leaders who spoke emphasized to always honor the victims, preserve memory, and reaffirm our collective duty to fight genocide denial and build a united, peaceful future.

Following the recent visit of Hon. Minister Olivier Jean Patrick Nduhungirehe to Vienna, discussions centered on growing Rwanda–Austria partnership, reaffirming shared priorities and continued cooperation at the bilateral and multilateral level.

Today, Ambassador Charles Karamba received Mr. Ozonnia Ojielo the UN in Ethiopia Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator , who previously served as the UN Resident Coordinator in Rwanda.
He congratulated him on his accomplishments and a successful served term in Rwanda.

Today evening Ambassador Charles Karamba received Rwandan medical professionals currently pursuing residency programs in various specialities in Ethiopia.
Discussions focused on their academic progress and professional conduct. The Ambassador stressed the importance of excellence in their studies and encouraged them to uphold Rwandan values and contribute to the success of Rwanda’s 4x4 Health program.

Today, Amb. Charles Karamba participated in a meeting of the Group of Ambassadors of OIF in Addis Ababa. The meeting was addressed by H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf Chairperson
African Union focusing on the Commission’s 2026 priorities, the situation of multilingualism at the AUC and cooperation between the African Union and the Organisation internationale de la Francophonie (OIF)

Amb. Charles Karamba commended the progress achieved in regard to the partnership between the OIF and the AUC and reiterated that Rwanda has presented her candidate for the OIF November elections, hailed leadership of H.E. Louise Mushikiwabo , the incumbent Secretary-General, highlighting some of her key achievements. Therefore the great need for her reelection to continue to take the OIF to greater heights.
