AFAR, LET US CHANGE HOW WE CHOOSE OUR LEADERS
Look at leaders in developed nations. Boris Johnson had Turkish ancestry through his great-grandfather Ali Kemal. Barack Obama had a Kenyan Luo father. Sadiq Khan, the son of a Pakistani bus driver, became Mayor of London. Zohran Mamdani, with South Asian, East African, Muslim, and American roots, became Mayor of New York City.
Their backgrounds did not prevent them from leading. They were judged through politics, vision, competence, achievements, and policies.
So why should Afar politics be different?
When choosing our representatives, let us stop asking:
❌ Which clan?
❌ Which sub-clan?
❌ Which village or province?
Instead, ask:
✅ What is their vision?
✅ What policies do they offer?
✅ What have they achieved academically and professionally?
✅ Do they have integrity, competence, and leadership?
Afar needs representatives who serve all Afar—not only their clan.
Our future will not be built by clan competition. It will be built by qualified, visionary, accountable, and united leadership.
🔥 Choose the person with the best vision—not simply the person with your clan name.
Afar Unity • Equal Citizens • Competent Leadership • Stronger Afar Future
