Borana University Concludes Three-Day Faculty Training on Collaborative Project Writing
Borana University | October 21, 2026
Borana University has successfully concluded its intensive, three-day tailored training session titled "Collaborative Project Proposal Writing for Funding and Networking." This high-level program brought together faculty members from across the institution to boost institutional research capacity, secure international research grants, and address regional socio-economic challenges through structured community engagement.
Building upon the foundational concepts introduced on the first day, the subsequent sessions successfully transitioned faculty from theoretical global funding frameworks to practical, hands-on project development strategies.
Advanced Collaborative Project Writing: Dr.Sintayehu Yigrem, an Associate Professor of Dairy Sciences at Hawassa University’s School of Animal and Range Sciences, guided faculty through the mechanics of drafting competitive, multi-institutional proposals. His sessions focused on aligning research objectives with global donor priorities, managing international research consortia, and establishing robust monitoring and evaluation frameworks. During this technical, hands-on segment, participants also mastered the Project Logical Framework (Log-frame), which trained them to systematically map project hierarchies—from inputs to long-term impacts—while defining the measurable indicators, verification sources, and key assumptions required by international donors.
Community Engagement Project Writing: Dr. Roba Jiso, an Assistant Professor at Borana University, led specialized sessions focused on maximizing regional impact. He instructed faculty members on how to design sustainable project proposals that directly address the critical socio-economic challenges faced by local pastoral and agro-pastoral communities.
In his closing address, Dr. Befekadu Chemere, President of Borana University, extended his sincere gratitude to the organizers, trainers, and faculty members for their unwavering dedication and immense efforts throughout the intensive three-day program. He emphasized that continuous capacity building serves as the bedrock of academic excellence and institutional growth.
"This training is far more than an academic exercise; it represents a deliberate effort to elevate the professional advancement of our faculty members," Dr. Befekadu remarked.
"By empowering our faculty with these advanced proficiencies, we are fundamentally transforming our approach to resource mobilization. Moving forward, we must aggressively leverage these new capabilities to efficiently utilize our resources, secure impactful international partnerships, and translate theoretical knowledge into tangible, socio-economic solutions for our communities," he added.
By equipping its faculty with advanced proficiencies in collaborative proposal formulation and community-centric engagement, Borana University has strategically leveraged its research capacity to secure competitive international research grants and catalyze sustainable regional development.
